Paul
0-0 would be the result of the season. Do you think Bodmin will take that and save the effort of having to play in the freezing cold conditions?? It was worth a shout!! :drink:

DanBlazey
Bodmin Town 1-0 St Blazey Attendance: about 140 (30+ from St Blazey) Best performance of the season from St Blazey, who were ARGUABLY the better team on the night. We were brilliant going forward in the second half, just lacking the cutting edge of a quality centre forward. All the best to Bodmin for the rest of the season. Stig
Taken from the CSWPL website. Wednesday 26th November Premier Division : Bodmin Town streched their lead at the top of the Premier Division table to 4 points after a narrow 1-0 win at Priory Park tonight over visiting St Blazey. The all important goal coming after 15 minutes direct from a corner kick by Karl Turner. Throgmorton Cup : Budleigh Salterton are through to the last 8 of the league cup after a 7 goal thriller, 4-3 win over fellow Eastern Division rivals Stoke Gabriel. The "Robins" are also assured of the 200 pound prize for being the last club from the Eastern Division left in the competition. Kain Bond had headed the visitors into an early lead but goals from Dave Wilkes and Ashley Barker gave the home side a half time lead. The start of the 2nd half saw a bizarre incident when Stoke kicked the ball out of play to allow home defender Nick Hayman to receive treatment. When play re-started Neil Pointing played the ball back to Stoke 'keeper Mark Coombes but instead managed to lift the ball over him and into the empty net ! Sportsmanship was however maintained as straight from the kick off Clay Bond was allowed to score past a static defense to remove any injustice. Wilkes later made it 4-2 before Liam McAuley made it 4-3 with 10 minutes remaining to set up a nervy finish. Devon St Lukes Bowl : Two more ties were played tonight with Tavistock v Ivybridge Town completing the 1st round of the Bowl at Langsford Park where the visiting Ivy's won 4-2. They will now face Western League Bideford in the 2nd round early in the New Year. One 2nd round tie was also played this evening with Holsworthy being knocked out after going down 1-3 at home to Western League side Willand Rovers ar Upcott Field, Steve Hackett was on target for the "Magpies". Paul
Bobby Oaten must have been very pleased with the players commitment last night because they really gave the champions elect a run for ttheir money. I went there expecting nothing, hoping wed put up a fight, and the Blazey boys didnt disapoint what so ever. After an early goal that came from a corner, straight after our goalkeeper had been receiving treatment, it looked like it was going to be one of those nights but back they came. 2 fantastic chances in the first half, one that was a cut back and put past the post when it looked easier to score. The general play on what was a very wet pitch was great to watch at times. Second half started the same and while we had men forward, Bodmin did have gaps but the shooting wasnt great and the longer the game went on, the more Bodmin looked edgy. Credit were its due but the final good chance was a looping header which looked in until Miller in goal pulled off a cracking save, right in the top corner, kept it 1-0. Lets hope the lads keep that performance going when we play Holsworthy on saturday which looks a must win game. Well done lads, keep it going!! :drink:
Ken Reed
I have to agree with you Paul that St Blazey deserved at least a point but I ask you this! Why can St Blazey produce a performance like they did against Bodmin last night but fail to produce the same efoort and commitment against others? The other obvious thing that came out of this game is the fact that Bodmin didn't play to the best of their ability but still won. as those in the know say, "it's the sign of a good side that doesn't play as well as it might yet still gains all the points on offer". I for one hope that St Blazey move onward and upward. Good Luck Paul.
Paul
Ive no idea Ken. But last night we had options on the bench, at Dartmouth we only had 1 sub. So at least Bobby had to pick a team last night. Bobby has also tryed to get his side to play good football, and with a lack of height in the team, the only way to win will be playing some football. Bodmin also get the ball down and play so St Blazey got the chance to play their way last night. When they played Ivybridge, they had some big lads and St Blazey found it hard to cope with the direct ball at times. Itll be intresting to see how we do on saturday. HENRY HORNET
St Blazey were all over Bodmin like a rash. Pity about the only goal direct from an "iffy" corner. Shouldn't have been a corner, but a foul on Tom Blackler. Still recovering from the foul on him, Tom was impeded from saving the cross. This happens unfortunately. Yes, Mr Oaten was able to put out an exciting side that was a pleasure to watch. Not just kick and rush, but passing and movement. All played exceedingly well, one or two need to be fed with pasties twice a day and stood in grow bags !!! Hopefully same side can play against Holsworthy and with a little bit of luck score a few goals. Well done Mr Oaten, you should be proud of all of them.
