Tom Trust Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Peninsula Western Division: Truro City 4 - 4 Wendron What a game! Truro missed two chances to go ahead, including a saved penalty, then fell behind on 15mins. 2 mins later it was 1-1 and Truro went on to lead 4-1 after 40 mins. Wendron's 'keeper saved another penalty and with both 'keepers having made good saves, in a rush of blood Wendron pulled it back to 4-3 with two goals in the last minute of the 1st half. More saves and misses at each end promised more goals but there was only one, by Wendron in the 75th minute. There was a stone-bonking, gold-plated obvious penalty shout for Wendron but the only three people in the ground (attendance about 90 - I counted!) who didn't spot it had all arrived together and wore the same outfits... So it ended 4-4, though Truro should have won at a canter and Wendron, by no means looking like a second-from bottom side, deserved a point in the end for simply refusing to give up. Bald guy at the back for them very sound. Dan Stevenson in the Truro goal made some top-drawer saves. I don't know any other names: I had a programme but didn't see a team sheet. Wendron brought on a number 17 who according to the programme didn't exist. He ghosted round the field..... VERY entertaining for the neutral!
Dave Deacon Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 BBC Radio rugby and Darth Vardy gave this result as a 0-2 who is right?? Do you really need to ask that question! Certainly the scoreline was 2-0 at one stage, but with the game held up for some time to allow the Air Ambulance to land on the pitch at half-time to enable Steve Hawke to be taken to hospital, the RESULT was definitely 4-2 to Launceston.
Kernowman Posted October 25, 2008 Author Report Posted October 25, 2008 QUOTE BBC Radio rugby and Darth Vardy gave this result as a 0-2 who is right?? I took the results from the SWPL website, so one would hope they got the Falmouth result correct - Mike Odgers will no doubt have been at the match As Dave Deacon says - result was good 2-4

Paul Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 It was also reported on BBC AWFUL that St Blazey had won 3-1 at Holsworthy. Infact it finished 4-3 to St Blazey. This match was also held up for some time as a St Blazey player was air lifted to hospital. Reports after comfirm he was ok after he was suffering from neck pains and couldnt stand up. After the Cornwall and Devon Air Ambulance was both in action in local football today, maybe a good charity support as we do where I work. Why such a big thing has to be supported by charity is just a joke when you consider the money wasted on such things like the Dome, Wembley etc. A worthy cause to support.
Guest Postie Pidge Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 An air ambulance was also needed at the Holsworthy game

Suzie Chow Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Wishing Hawkey all the best. Pretty nasty from what I hear. Surely he should get the date with Danielle LLoyd over at L2 he damn well deserves it !!! For those confused, I refer to the non cornish football section on this forum! Support Cornwall Air Ambulance :clapper:
Stig Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 BBC Radio rugby and Darth Vardy gave this result as a 0-2 who is right?? Do you really need to ask that question! Certainly the scoreline was 2-0 at one stage, but with the game held up for some time to allow the Air Ambulance to land on the pitch at half-time to enable Steve Hawke to be taken to hospital, the RESULT was definitely 4-2 to Launceston. Of course I needed to ask that question! I got into the car at 15.48, heard anone starter of an interview with Kevin Hendy, then a load of rugby bolocks and she finished up in her own inevitable style by saying, "And the South West Peninsula Premier division ENDED like this", at 30 seconds to six she gave the score of 0-2, so when someone puts a scoreline on here that does not correspond with the score a BBC radio station gives out to the whole of the county, I certainly think I have the right to question it. Every kick, every goal, every game, what a load old shyte, she obviously missed a couple of goals today. BIN THE BBC BIDDY, she's crap.
Guest pitch invader Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 BIN THE BBC BIDDY, she's crap. YES PLEASE :yahoo:
DanBlazey Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Holsworthy 3-4 St Blazey Attendance: approx 65 (25 from St Blazey) 0-0 at half time with St Blazey perhaps just about shading it. A remarkable second half saw seven goals in about half an hour I reckon. Blazey did their best to throw it away after taking a two goal lead on three occasions. An excellent three points. All the best to our injured player, Maddison I think it was, and hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Tommy Matthews Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Just spoke to Steve Hawke 10 minutes ago, he's comfortable in hospital and waiting to have surgery this afternoon on a fracture dislocation of his left ankle. We all wish him a speedy recovery. We also have the air ambulance as a charity that we support at work, when you see it in action like we did yesterday it makes it all worth while.
Local Footie fan Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Steve Hawke wish him all the best. Hell of a Right Back. Like Bowker said earlier in season he has had everyone in his pocket this season! He will be sorely missed now by the team! Im afraid its one of those times where the result comes second to someone breaking their leg and so it should! But to sum up the game i think the performance against Launceston shows Falmouth are a long way away from being good enough to staying up in this division. There have been slight improvements on the pitch but it counts for nothing unless you picking up a few points along the way. Launceston are a very strong team, but we needed something yesterday. I dont know where the club goes from here! I sure hope the club know what they are doing for the sake of the loyal supporters! :c:
Dave Deacon Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Do you really need to ask that question! Stig - I think my sarcasm got lost somewehere! :D
