While Falmouth were getting that impressive looking result at fellow play-off candidates Bridgwater, down at Kellaway Park goals from Rikki Shepherd and Jacob Smith, either side of half-time, proved enough to win against Brixham. The Torpoint Massive Posted March 17 Report Share Posted March 17 Report – Saturday 16th March Torpoint Athletic 4-2 Street FC Toolstation Western League, Premier Division By Robbie Morris at The Mill Torpoint Athletic beat ‘The Cobblers’ with three late goals to come from a goal behind in a smash and grab win at The Mill on Saturday afternoon.Ryan Richards bagged all four of the goals in a display of clinical finishing on a heavy pitch. This result leapfrogs Torpoint up to ninth in the Premier Division. The visitors started the brightest of both the sides as they probed the home defence with some half chances in the first few minutes. It was on the eighth minute when Street took the lead. Jakob Dickens lobbed the home keeper Ryan Rickard from 25 yards out wide on the left. Four minutes later, the hosts equalised when good build up play found Ryan Richards in the box to fire home from 10 yards. On the 20th minute Richards for Torpoint goes wide of the far post after his effort from the edge of the area, then three minutes later Isaac McCue crosses the ball to Richards to break clear. His effort bounces over visiting keeper Shay Allen and somehow cleared off the line by a visiting defender. On the half mark, Josh Goodwin for the visitors shoots low from 15 yards, but the ball is easily collected by the home keeper, then three minutes later, Street created another chance when Eli Collins on the edge of the area, lifts his effort over the cross bar. With two minutes remaining of the first half, Jakob Dickens for the visitors heads his effort wide and then right at the end of the half, Torpoint’s Richards crosses the ball to find James Rowe, his shot well saved by Shay Allen. The second half is only two minutes old when Zeph Collins for the visitors has a free kick on the edge of the area which curls just wide of the post, then about 15 minutes later Eli Collins curls his 25 yard free kick round the Torpoint wall which is collect by Rickard. On the 69th minute, Torpoint’s Ryan Richards angled shot is parried by the visiting keeper, for James Rowe to fire the loose ball just wide of the post from close range, ten minutes later a ball into the area to finds Sam Hillson, who fires his effort from 10 yards low, but Shay Allen’s lightning response, gets down low and saves the ball. On the 80th minute the visitors take the lead when a Eli Collins free kick from 25 yards, takes a slight deflection into the back of the net. With three minutes remaining, the hosts equalise when Ryan Richards fires home past Shay Allen, after some good build up play by the midfield. Right at the end of the 90 minutes, James Rowe passes the ball to Richards to round the keeper and clinically fires home to put the hosts in the lead for the first time in the match and to complete his hat-trick. Ryan Richards had not finished scoring yet, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Torpoint break clear and its four home players verses the visiting keeper and there was only one winner. CJ Pritchard lays the ball to Richards to fire home with his fourth goal of the afternoon and Torpoints first ever victory against Street in their club history. Torpoint Athletic: R.
