100%cornish
Had to get my football fix so went to my favourite ground Wadebridge to watch them play Penzance and it was a very enjoyable game even 1st half Wadebridge going in at HT 1-0 from there brilliant captain Sam Gerken who scored a brilliant goal . Hayden Chapman and Jude Tripconey where causing havoc on the wings and where putting in lovely crosses just no one was on the end of them, Brad Rowe was having a great game for the Bridger in defence and he was going to be my Mom but then he went and got injured and was replaced . 2nd half Wadebridge came out looking they meant business and Jacob Rowe had his shooting boots on scoring 2 brilliant goals the 2nd a blockbuster . Penzance need a goalscorer they had Samnakus on the bench today but Wadebridge where worthy winners and played some lovely Wadebridge must of had the oldest subs bench with Reski ,Simmonds and Lloyd on the bench while Penzance had youngster Mark Vercesi on there bench Nice afternoon to watch footy even if Smokie did go on his walkabout . Had a nice surprise i won the 50/50 draw with ticket 561 and i collected a nice £30 . Well done to Wadebridge and also good luck to Penzance you just need a goalscorer someone like Oscar Massey to come back . Well done to St Austell and Falmouth in the vase and hard luck on Newquay in there defeat but they had a lot of players out today now they can concentrate on the runners up spot in the league and Senior Cup . Thankyou Wadebridge for your hospitality and making me and my side kick always welcome and was nice to talk to Jon Gerken Sams dad i will get a picture of Sam and Smokie next time i am up there Jon Wendron and Liskeard games definitly Nearly forgot Mom for Wadebridge Jacob Rowe and for Penzance Charlie Willis all 3 officials had very good games Thecupfootballblogger, CRD, Charlie Farley and 1 other
James_Wright
WADEBRIDGE TOWN 3 PENZANCE 0 Penzance’s failure to takes chances when on top in the first half hour cost them very dearly as, once they edged ahead, hosts Wadebridge Town ran away with the match to emphatically avenge their Cornwall Senior defeat at Penlee Park back in September. The Penzance captain’s armband was handed to Silas Sullivan for the day with Tyler Tonkin missing due to the shoulder injury sustained in midweek. Michael Fitchett and James Butler were restored to the starting line-up with the latter particularly impressive in the opening stages as Penzance dominated. The ex-Curzon Ashton youngster freed Charlie Willis after just nine minutes with a brilliant pass. But Willis, who featured for Wadebridge in this fixture last season whilst on loan from Mousehole, saw his shot rebound to safety off the base of the near post. The younger Butler brother, Ollie, then set up Fitchett, but the striker could only find the side netting. Just before the half hour mark, James Butler had an angled drive well saved by Rob Rosevear, and Jacob Trudgeon put the rebound over the bar. The profligacy proved very expensive as the home side scored with their first real chance, captain Sam Gerken tucking away a tidy right foot shot after a good move down the left. The Bridgers brushed off the loss of defender Brad Rowe to an injury, and bossed the closing stages of the half. They were twice denied a healthier lead by the woodwork, and Jacob Smale pulled a shot just wide when in on goal. Penzance threatened sporadically after the turnaround, but the result was effectively sealed on the hour when Jacob Rowe tucked away an excellent pass from the left by Haiden Chapman. The visitors gambled bringing Rolandos Samnauskas and Mark Vercesi off the bench to play attacking roles. But it was to no avail, and Rowe fired in his second goal of the match, from a Sam Wickins corner, with fourteen minutes remaining to conclude the scoring. Wadebridge: Rob Rosevear, Tom Harris, Sam Hepworth, Brad Rowe (Chris Reski 40), Jacob Smale, Jacob Rowe, Rhys Hooper, Jude Tripconey (Matt Lloyd 76), Haiden Chapman, Sam Gerken (captain), Sam Wickins. Unused subs: Steve Simmonds, Tom Jeal Penzance: Mikey Flores, Archie Reynolds, James Butler, Ollie Butler, Liam Andrew, Frazer Cadman, Charlie Willis, Jacob Trudgeon (Rolanndos Samnauskas 62), Kam Collins (Freddie Neaum 90), Michael Fitchett (Mark Vercesi 54), Silas Sullivan (captain) (Dylan Walter 77). Dave Deacon
PRESS RELEASE Ivybridge Town 2, Bridport 0 UNBEATEN Ivybridge Town boosted their championship prospects at the top of the East Division with a 2-0 home win over their closest challengers Bridport in the South West Peninsula League on Saturday (Nov 11). Lively attacker Jack Alexander opened the scoring after good work by Rio Daly in the 36th minute and defender Josh Zimmerman wrapped up victory with a looping header in the 67th minute. The match was Ivybridge’s first since October 14 and the result saw them extend their lead over Bridport to 11 points with 13 wins and a draw from 14 matches. The first half was closely contested with Ivybridge indebted to goalkeeper Kane Gregory, who pulled off a couple of crucial saves to protect their single goal lead. But Ivybridge gained more control in the second half with Zimmerman’s goal while the powerful central defender always looked in command as Bridport tried to get back into the game. Ivybridge joint manager Lance Bailey admitted: “We expected a tough game with a top of the table clash against Bridport. But winning breeds confidence and if you keep winning it is a good mentality to have.” Ivybridge were without regular left back Jake Lane, who was unavailable, so Curtis Legrice switched across from his usual right back role while Jordan Powell covered at right back, leaving Zimmerman to partner skipper Scott Pocock in the middle of the back four. Bailey explained: “We have such a good squad. Not many teams could have potentially their best players out. It proves to us how confident we are with our squad. “Curtis Legrice has been phenomenal for us this season and has played in a number of positions.” There was praise from the management team for the efforts of Zimmerman and Gregory with Bailey saying: “The choice of man of the match between Josh and Kane was very close. They were both immense for us in the second half especially. That is where I think we won the game with Josh winning a lot of balls in the air and Kane being such a big presence for us at set pieces. “Kane is massive for us with his presence against big sides like Bridport. We knew they were going to put us under pressure with set pieces and we said to him before the game that he was going to be important for us.” Next up for Ivybridge will be their Devon County St Luke’s Cup clash at home to Plymouth Parkway on Wednesday evening (Nov 15). On this occasion Ivybridge will be the underdogs, but Bailey says: “We are looking forward to it. It is a good thing for the club and we will welcome Parkway here and give a good account of ourselves. “We have nothing to lose. We will go out there with smiles on our faces and enjoy it.” Then it is back to league business with three successive Saturday away matches against Bishop’s Lydeard, Sidmouth and Okehampton. Bailey says: “We will hopefully get a bus together for Saturday’s trip to Bishop’s Lydeard. Then we can have some team bonding with the boys travelling up together.” Press Release from Graham Hambly
