Dropship 2 (TylerPrescott 2) Probus 2 (Dan Vincent, Sam Bullen)

The home team had the first chance inside the first 5 minutes when Paul Robertson put a free header over the bar when well placed. Probus went up the other end and Dan Vincent was fouled by Ben Kellow and from the resulting free kick by Joe Emmett, he headed into the net from close range. Both teams then had shots over the bar, George Truscott and Joe Emmett for Probus and Paul Robertson’s dipping effort for Dropship, whilst the home number 8 was booked for a foul. The home team equalised when a cross was spilled by Jason Chapman in goal for Probus and one of the Dropship players poked the ball across goal and Tyler Prescott tapped home from about a yard out. Probus should have regained the lead immediately, when Dan Vincent crossed but Sam Bullen’s stooping header went wide of the far post. The home side did take the lead when Prescott scored from the edge of the box with a good strike. 2-1 at halftime.

Dropship started the second half on the front foot and Andy Sheer made a great block after 2 minutes. Jason Chapman then made a decent stop, with the rebound being hooked just wide of the target. After 74 minutes substitute Gabby Xavier-Camara Rojas had a shot blocked by the Dropship keeper’s legs. Then a few minutes later at the other end, the ball went over Jason Chapman’s head and he scrambled to drag the ball clear from near the line. Peter Norfolk, for the home team, had a chance to end the contest but he shot over when well placed. Into injury time and it looked like it wasn’t going to be Probus’s day, but they did win a free kick just inside the Dropship half. Everyone went forward as it was the last throw of the dice and Jason Chapman’s free kick found the head of Sam Bullen, who planted his header into the top corner, giving the keeper no chance. The home assistant referee flagged for a foul but the referee over-ruled him, explaining that he was there to give offsides and the ball in and out of play only. Play restarted and nothing really happened in the time left. At the final whistle Probus were  jubilant and Dropship disappointed at not seeing the result through. One of the home players appeared to let himself down a bit with his actions at the end, but well done to the Dropship players who dragged him away when he was going to get himself in trouble.

Overall, Probus will be happy with an away point, despite dropping their first league points of the season, and they have played much better than this previously, but a point when not playing well is a good result. Dropship play much more direct than they did last season and I’m sure they will be gutted to let 2 points slip through their fingers. The referee had a decent game. Another long trip for Probus next week when they visit Lizard Argyle.

Fair report

Good game by both sides

Not sure I was well-placed to shoot over but should still hit the target

Even after the few altercations after the game it was all smiles and laughs between the sides after for a beer

Good luck for the rest of the season to all at probus

Illogan RBL 12, Helston Raiders 0

At half-time (10 - 0) one of Illogan's regulars, Clive Roberts, asked what I would find to say about this game! Well he might. This Junior Cup matched pitched current leaders of Div 2 West against the current bottom side in Div 4 so I hadn't expected much. Illogan played up the slope 1st half and scored in the 2nd, 5th, 11th, 22nd, 28th, 29th, 31st,  34th, 40th and 45th minutes. In the 33rd minute Helston's gazelle-like No 99 hit the post with a free-kick. I had so wanted it to go in!

Settling down with my hot chocolate (£1) for the 2nd half I kept my pen and notebook handy for the anticipated torrent of goals; but it's a funny old game! Illogan only managed 2 more, in the 50th (I thought, yes, here we go!) and 67th minutes.

Helston haven't had a win so far this season and were hardly likely to get it here, but they had 3 or 4 coachable players (2 or 3 who hadn't a clue) and came with 3 or 4 subs, so well done them. There were one or two family men in their one-up, with WAGS and kids in attendance, so all credit to them. They clearly want to play football and why shouldn't they? I imagine they pay to play, for pitch hire, laundry, refs, competition entry and so on, so truly represent "grass roots" football which the FA seems to mean clubs at Truro City's level; and long may they keep going.

They played with tremendous spirit and sportsmanship and deserved a goal They defended like troupers in the 2nd half, with three or four goal-line clearances and many good saves by their 'keeper who wasn't bad at all.

Good banter, though, and some entertaining youths from Helston in the stand: the girl, about 17yo, must have been freezing in her skimpy outfit. Just a pity she pretended to smoke! (Like so many of us did at that age!).

Now, where are the other match reports?

Lizard argyle 1-5 St Erme- Match Report-

St Erme made another long trip down west to face lizard a team who sat just below them in the table but have had some good results so wasn’t gonna be an easy game.

St Erme started the game with pretty much the same starting 11 as last week but made 2 changes with cam coming in for the injured Dave after his outstanding performance last week and Adam came in for Alan at right back, St Erme started the better and took the lead after 5 mins when Brandon M whipped a corner in which came back out to him and he drilled it into the bottom right corner to give the mighty saints the lead, not long after the saints made it 2 when Lizard misplaced a pass which Thierry  M latched onto and finished well past the keeper, The saints then let lizard into the game a bit and 10 mins before half time they got a goal back when the right winger whipped a cross in which caught the wind, Dan M saved well but they followed it up and tapped home. 2-1 to the saints at half time, No changes made at half time and St Erme gained the control back and got a 3rd when Thierry M was allowed far too much space on the edge and he Hit it well for the keeper to save but his brother Freddie M was their to smash home. The saints then made 2 changes with Adam H coming off after a great performance for Alan D and  Jared made way after another battling performance in that CDM role for Jake B, 5 mins later St Erme were forced into another change with skipper Kyle S having to make way after a great performance for Maxwell E to come on, After 5 or so minutes of being on the pitch Maxwell E got on the scoresheet when he headed home following a Brandon M corner, Maxwell E was then involved in the 5th goal for the Saints when he set up his fellow sub Jake B for him to slot home low into the left hand corner for his second goal of the bench. The Saints then made a few more changes which allowed the other subs to get a run out with Brandon M making way for Alistair M and Craig S making way for Zack W, St Erme saw out the game to make it 6 unbeaten,

Todays MOTM for the saints was Cain T after a battling performance in the midfield.

Perranwell 3-3 Stithians

Good game at Perranwell end to end stuff. Perranwell started the brighter of the two teams with Bray making a smart save early on. But in the 15th minute Perranwell opened the scoring after a corner was punched clear for the ball to be delivered back in and a header past Bray in goal 1-0 Stithians came into the game but had a number of shots blocked or didn't quite fall for us. Perranwell had a couple of shots saved by Bray. Then in the 25th minute Perranwell won the ball moved it well to the winger who finished in the bottom left corner 2-0.  Stithians kept pushing for a goal keeper making some saves and the the 40th minute a cross from Kyle Chapman was fumbled by the keeper for winger Tom Roberts to finish 2-1 HT

Second half.

Stithians pushed on looking for a equaliser.  But in the 60th minute a free kick was delivered Bray lost the ball in the sun with a goal line scramble goalline technology said no. Then Stithians grabbed an equaliser when Stithians youngster Ryan Kempthorne went through to smash in an equaliser.  Both teams kept looking for a winner and Kempthorne made it 3-2 when he volleyed home a Steven Crook cross.  Perranwell kept coming looking for an equaliser and they got it in the 85th when a great strike from the Perranwell midfielder who fired home with Bray getting a hand but went in the top of the net 3-3.  Both teams pressed for a winner but it finished 3-3. A fair result all round.

All the best to Perranwell for the season

Well reffed by Bill Trethewey.

New Inn Titans 8 - 1 Constantine

This week seen the league fixture of last weeks Junior cup Opponents Constantine.
Last week, was a 3-2 win for New Inn, at Constantine. This week gave New Inn a chance to put rights to an abysmal performance last week.

Shaunny, had some things to mull over, with Nico Penfold picking up an Ankle injury, in last weeks fixture, which hopefully doesn’t see him sidelined for too long.
With Ryan Baber still missing, Shaun and mushy decided to push Ralph into the CDM role, leaving Robbie P, to play his natural position on the wing, and Beale and Rikki as the other 2 of the trio of midfielders.

Joshy slotted in at CB and Wardy at left back, like a prime Dennis Irwin!

Windy and Wet conditions, and Game was underway.

Now last week, Titans created 5/6 chances in the first 10 minutes but didn’t convert and that was what Shaunny wanted, to be more clinical. And the boys listened, and was absolutely on fire.. racing into a 3-0 lead within the first 10. Robert P demolishing his full back, and Beale with an absolute pearler of a free kick.

Some great link up play from JJ as usual, and Titans looked good.

Boz, marshalled and lead from the back, and this flowed through the spine of the titans team. 15 mins in, and Titans were reduced to 10 men, Marky picking up, 2 quick yellow cards. And Constantine must of thought their luck had changed! But this wasn’t the case, some more great link up play, transitioning through midfield to JJ to Robbie P, and Titans soon rushed into a 6-0 lead.

Constantine with the extra man, started getting some space, and their Captain found himself on the edge of the box and unleashed a strike, which hit the bar! But still a Stalemate to get their goal.

Another goal, made it 7-0 and half time whistle blew just after a Massive downpour of rain and hail!

Half time talk and Shaunny said, to keep the pressure on, keep shape, and play football and enjoy it boys.

“Best half display I’ve seen this season”

Second half underway, and it was wet and cold, but New inn started to try and play the ball about, in slippy conditions.

Ben Penna in goal, was called upon a few times, and with some great saves, kept the score at 7-0, but then a ball to the back stick, and the midfielder poked the ball in 7-1. Constantine rallied calls - “We can do this boys”

Couple of substitutions brought on Catt and Mike philp, and someone more quick paced attacking from New inn, seen an 8th goal. And 8-1 Titans. Robbie Penfold with 4 for the afternoon.

Constantine put pressure on looking for another goal, but Boz and Joshy and Jareth and wardy stayed strong and another couple saves from Penna kept the ball out the Net.

A dominant display from New Inn, made a mense for last weeks poor performance. Putting Titans back at the Top with Illogan with a game in hand.

Down to St Buryan next week, for the D2W fixture.

Good luck to Constantine, and thanks for coming back for a couple beers and food!

Falmouth United 3 - 0 Frogpool.
Missing a number of key players I was worried coming in to this game knowing the frogpool lads very well and drawing with them on the opening game of the season I thought this game was going to be a really tough game. New signing Archie Caban started brightly up top for his first start, and with injured reece toms having to start, they linked up very well to cause frogpool plenty of issues. Our first goal came from archie caban after some good footwork to find the bottom corner. The lads moved the ball very well, not resorting to long balls very often and going for little short passes through the third.  We could have gone in a half time a couple more a head but didn't capitalise on chances created.
Half-time chat was mainly focused on just keeping doing what you're doing. I was pleased with the movement and forward focused passing and knew if that continued, we would be OK. We started making changes about 15 mins into the second half, leading to doubling our lead from shot just outside the box. Our third goal was special after a great team build up the ball came to substitute rhys Stumbles to smash home from close range.
We didn't have it all our own way, and frogpool did hit the post late on and also did force our keeper to a number of saves.  But it was a great 3 points for us with a weaker squad but again shows the importance of a strong youth set up at the club giving me 16 weekly, even missing important, experienced players.
Frogpool was clearly missing a number of players, including the manager.. but elliot Jolly ran the team really well. Constantly encouraging and driving his lads forward.

Man of the match
Archie caban for running himself into the ground, and his short passing and movement really created options for us.

**** of the day was young ethan body for trying to emulate his worldie from the week before, only for it to go out for a throw. Said it was a cross 🤦🤦

All the best to frogpool. I love the club and the lads there. Both teams are doing well, which is great and sorry again to them for not chasing up the pub about food, so it was only beers on offer.

Home Saturday against St. Day. Got some key players back .
