DIV 2 WEST

PERRANWELL RES  (1)  2

PENZANCE RES   (2)  5

ATT:  28

Perranwell managed to scrape together a bare 11 with manager Steve on the bench with a heavily strapped knee, know how he feels poor bugger! To be fair the Well did ok to make a game of it with so many players unavailable, I feared the worst at 2-0 down after 12 minutes but the score was only 2-3 going into the last 10 minutes until two late goals made the scoreline look harsh! Sorry for lack of names etc, I didn’t even know half the players myself!? 🤔😀 No such troubles for PZ, had about 5 subs, with some talented young players and scored some good goals. Nice to see old pal Andy Withers still out there playing for the Magpies and also referee Mr Ken Keemer who’s been in the middle for 34 years and only had to produce the one yellow today I think in a pretty good natured game between two decent bunch of lads I thought. Felt sorry for the PZ number 9 who scored a good goal then proceeded to put one over from 3 yards and have his penalty saved a couple minutes after that!! 😂👍️ He’ll wonder how he ain’t going home with a hat-trick!!? We’ve all been there though! ️ Frustrating day for the hosts who gave probable champions NIT a good game in midweek but are struggling for numbers on a Saturday at the moment but a decent day for Penzance who went away with a deserved 3 points after dominating 70% of the game at least I would have thought 👍👏🏼️

Storm 1 mullion 3rds 7

more like mullions 2nds but hey ho you can only play the team in front of you

damage was done in the first half by the lads who dropped down. Storm weren’t at the races today and definitely feeling the effect of 3 games in 8 days.

we go again to perranporth next week

decent scran after the game and the beer was nice and cheap.

2 wins and 2 losses is much better for us than what storm are used too

Chacewater 1-4 Stithians

Treve Bale 2

Howard Vague

Steven Crook

Nice day for it at the recreation ground.  We Stithians started very brightly in the opening minutes our first chance fell to New signing Ryan Kempthorne who fired over in the 10th minute. We kept pushing for the first goal but missed a couple more chances including a sitter from Jamie Barkle.  Chacewater slowly came into the game without really threatening with any shots,  we took the lead in the 30th minute a ball down the right hand side was crossed in and Howard Vague arrived at the back stick to tap in. We kept pushing and found ourselves 2-0 up after Ryan Kempthorne was bundled over and the ever reliable Treve Bale stuck it in the top corner for two nil. Chacewater kept going had couple long shots miles wide or over 2-0 HT.

In the 2nd half Chacewater came flying out the blocks with substitute Liam Taylor making our centre backs work. Chacewater got there goal from a corner from Bradley Charles delivered back stick headed back across goal by Kevin Mitchell for Jake Merrifield to head home from 2 yards. Chacewater always equalised five minutes after but we're denied by a reaction save from Liam Bray and managed the jump on rebound before Bradley Charles could tap in.  We wake up after that and in the 65th minute Steven Crook delivered a good hit and hope cross into the box and unfortunately for Russell Grice he couldn't keep it out.  Chacewater kept pushing but in the 70th minute we made it 4-1 from a free kick inside our own half by Peter Blight was headed in by the unmarked Treve Bale.  We made numerous other chances but couldn't convert. Chacewater kept battling but didn't really threaten the Stithians goal 4-0 Ft

After a long hard season for us last season it was good to start with a win and start positively. All the best to Chacewater for the season

Game was reffed brilliantly by Tom Milburn

Probus 4-0 Holmans

Yesterday saw us take on our toughest opponent so far this season against a strong Holmans team.

After a late night with most of us at our race night event which we held at the comrades club to raise funds for the football club, my partner in crime (joint manager) Justin Trebilcock took it on himself to remind players at the event to keep drinking to a minimum as we had an important game the folllowing day which to be fair all the lads took on board. Fast forward to the following morning when videos were circulating of said manager walking home at 1:30 leathered and could barely stand!!!! That was **** of the day sorted before anyone turned up!!!!😆

Anyway back to the game. After a somewhat lethargic warm up due to me turning up late and Justin’s 16th pint still wearing off we still seemed quite quiet. We knew the first 20 mins of the game would be so important if we were to get something out of it.

With injury’s and people absent as the whistle blew we didn’t disappoint.

We started the game brightly playing some really neat football and after this bright start we took the lead through Joe Emmett who continued his fine goal scoring form from left midfield with a thunderous shot which took a slight deflection to make it 1-0.

To a man we were winning our battles all over the pitch and we made it 2-0 thanks to a header from the prolific Sam Bullen. Tempers started to flare from the opposition who couldn’t cope with our football and the way we applied ourselves.

Before the halftime whistle blew we made it 3-0 thanks to another fine finish from Joe Emmett who bagged his second. Que a melee after Danny.V who was brought down in the lead up to the goal by the no4 or Love Island as we nicknamed him kicking out at DV for celebrating in his face.

Half Time 3-0.

We knew the next goal would be all important so keeping it tight at the start of the second half was all important. We had no need to worry as we kept the momentum we had from the first half and carried on in the second. To a man we were faultless and we made it 4-0 thanks to a fine finish from George Truscott who was outstanding all game. After the 4th we continued to control the game and saw it out to the final whistle.

Whilst everyone was outstanding today special mentions to the back 4 lead by JP and Justin who after his pre match warm up with guiness didn’t put a foot wrong.

The midfield across the board were exceptional as was Bullen up top but the MOM today was George Truscott.

Special mention to the boys who came on as sub who also put a shift in, Harrison, Ben, Gabi and James who ran Justin close to **** of the day as he was eating cookies with his girlfriend in the dugout first half and even offered me one!

Never easy being a sub or being brought on in this sort of game but everyone was superb.

Thanks to Graham again for his relentless work sorting the pitch and admin and to Quinny for running the line, although did have cramp in the club after 4 pints later on. Drink more water mate 😆

Referee also had a good game today 👍🏻

Later in the eve it didn’t end on abit of a sour note when we found out another football club after giving us good reason to wave 7 days to sign a player from us to help there seconds out only to find out he played for the first team. No need to fabricate stories as we would of helped out anyway. Won’t name the club but they have a castle similar to Falmouth.

Thanks to everyone who came up to support, it’s good to have so many of you there.

Only sour note was Holmans not coming back after the game to sample the delights Suzi had made for us again. Thanks very much Suzi, all the lads loved it.

Next weekend sees us at home again but I’ll post details up during the week.

Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday weekend 🍺👍🏻
