Well done the cornish clubs that got through the 2nd qualifying round of the Vitality Cup, some rather hefty journeys are involved for St Austell and Helston and may add a boost to their need to win to cover expences.
Liskeard and Sticker however are in a financial winning situation even if they lose, the money won so far should easily see them through the season taking all other match income in to account.
What we have found impressive with the ladies game is that unless we have missed it, we have yet to hear any complaints about having to travel beyond the Tamar Bridge to compete in league or cup games.

Well done girls, long may you set the example for others to follow where progress is accompanied by the desire to improve, and accepting that travel is a likely part of that improvement is a must.

The positive for St Austell & Helston is that even if they go on to lose their respective away ties, they’ll have received a total of 4k in prize money (3k for winning at the weekend & 1k to the losing club in the next round)

The irony of this amazing prize fund and how it is boosting the women’s game, is that whilst many continue to refer to ‘Vitality’ as sponsors, their sponsorship agreement ended last season. So despite the female game getting more coverage, and the success of the Lionesses, the FA haven’t published a headline sponsor for the FA Cup this season.  Doesn’t say much for the FA marketing department really, if they can’t secure a sponsor in these ‘boom’ times for the womens game. But I’m sure Vitality are lapping up the free publicity.

The further they go the tougher it gets as Helston who have a home game against Exeter, and Sticker who also have a home game against AFC Stoneham from Hampshire will agree,
They do however have home advantage against higher league opposition, and upsets in cup games are a regular thing.

Good luck to the only two cornish clubs left in the competition, a little unfortunate that both matches are on the same day and at the same time.
