Hope the Exmouth v Parkway game is on tomorrow . It is nicely poised for this season after league game at Bolitho early in the season went the way of Parkway, but the Les Phillips Cup game at Exmouth went in the direction of the home side (an evening to forget for Lee Hobbs' team).

Bit of a hangover for Parkway from that last game as well, with Rob Farkins, Craig Duff and Ryan Lane all  suspended as a result of their sendings off that night.

The pitch was very wet this afternoon  but its blue sky and drying. We have a number of the MTC going to the ground at 9am with forks ,so hoping the weather is kind to us this evening .

Exmouth Town 4 Buckland Athletic 2

Football at last at Southern Road . The pitch was given the ok at 0900 and then it rained again ,but the pitch was fine ,very wet and heavy but no surprise.

Town had this game wrapped up in the first 45 minutes ,even though Buckland had the lions share of the possession ,Town were clinical .

Tom Gardiner looped a header in after 2 minutes ,then a brace from Jordan Harris and a fantastic finish from MOM Max Gillard put Town 4 up at HT.

It could have been worse for Buckland as Town had two goals disallowed and missed two one on ones with the keeper making saves.

Buckland came out in the second half a different team ,with Town sitting back a little too much , Buckland had the ball in the net three times in the second half but one disallowed . Arron Denny should have scored late in the game after going around the keeper twice in the same attack .

Final Score 4-2 att 220

Next up Street away Saturday .

Street 3  Exmouth Town 4

Another game of two halves for Town . In the first half Town should have been 5 up!!!!

Street to there credit are a young Footballing side ,but struggled with crosses and set plays.

The opener came from a cross and a goalmouth scramble where Jamie Dirrane  got the ball over the line in the 15th minutes, then a couple of minutes later

Jordan Harris finished well to put Town 2 up .

Town  really should have added with missed chances and the Street Keeper struggling to get off his line to anything.

Town started the second half missing two glorious chances , but a Ace High mishit found its way into the net to make it 3-0.

Que Street to dominate for 35 minutes making it difficult watching for the MTC that traveled.

Street got back to 3-2 and in the 89th minute a long thrown was no defended and bobbled in Towns six yard box and was thumped past Town glovesman  Robbie Powell .

QUE STREET PLAYERS RIGHTFULLY GOING MAD!!

Unfortunately for them ,they forgot to do the basics right ,conceding a few corners and then a cross was headed across the goal by Tom Gardner which was going wide until a Street defender panicked knocking the ball back into the six yard box   . Jordan Harris got the final touch to make it 4-3 to Town for a scrambled GOAL that wouldn't of been out of place on a school playground.

Street are a decent young team and will been useful , I liked the ground ,probably the best ive been too this season in the Western League.

ATT 124 with approx 40 from Town.

Next Up A TOUGH home game v Bitton next Saturday . UTT

Exmouth Town 2 Bitton 0

Town had Jordan Harris suspended , Karl Rickard , Max Gillard and Jimmy Hinds all unavailable so this was always going to be a tough game.

Having been to Bitton early in the season we knew it would be a tough game.  The late team news from Bitton was that their Keeper had dropped out in the morning and the Manager was playing in goal!

AS a game it wasn't the best ,it was competitive with too few attempts on goal from both Teams. Town took the lead after about 20 minutes when a deflected shot from Callum Shipton beat the stationary keeper.  HT 1-0

The second half was much the same ,two evenly matched sides ,but Town as it has been with plenty of the games this season had a little more quality in front of goal when Shipton got a second after 80 minutes.

Town also had a goal ruled out for offside . Again Bitton huffed and puffed but never really threatened.

Att 221 with about 10 from Bitton,

Next up Shepton Mallett away in the Les Phillips Cup Tuesday .UTT

Shepton Mallett 1 Exmouth Town 2 (Les Phillips Cup)

Nothing like a midweek game under lights!!

Arrived a bit late for this, Apparently Mallett could have scored a couple in the first couple of minutes!

Town kicked uphill in the first half and had a few chances and Town keeper made a couple of decent stops.

Callum Shipton opened the scoring when the ball was squared to him after about 25min and continuing his fine form from Saturday smashed it past the keeper from about 12 yards.

HT 0-1 Town

Second half Mallet seemed to prefer kicking up the slope and came out like a train!!!

For about 20 minutes they peppered the Town goal and only great defending and good handling by Powell kept Mallett at bay, until a great finish from range pulled the scores level.1-1.

The flow of the game stayed the same with Mallet pushing and Town playing well on the break .

Que Towns 2nd goal and winner after about 75mins a breakaway  looked to be repelled when a Mallet defender instead of clearing the ball  solded the Keeper short with Aaron Denny closing him down . The Keeper tried to clear ,but only managed to hit Denny on the  edge of the box and then had to watch the ball float into the net !!!

Town closed the game down well for the last 15 minutes, with  hitting Mallet on the break up front and the defense marshaled by Powell not looking like giving this hard fought victory.

On a really positive not it was great to see two of young lads from the reserves step up and take part. Both lads 18 years old.

It really is something we haven't seem at Town for a long time.

Att 82 with approx 15 from Town ,not bad for a 3 hour round trip .

Really liked the Shepton Mallet set up and ground . Next up Roman Glass at home Saturday

Keynsham 0 Parkway 3 last night , details to follow in Graham's excellent match report. (Spoiler alert; the match didn't finish with 22 players on the pitch).

Looks like it's shaping up to be a battle between Parkway, Bradford and Exmouth for the championship and promotion slots.

And Tavistock coming up on the rails !!!

Exmouth Town 2 Roman Glass St George  1

Town should have been out of sight after 30 minutes here ,but it wasn`t too be . Town took the lead after 25 minutes when Jamie Richards hit a free kick around the one man wall from about 30 yards and the keeper dived full length to see the ball bounce over him! Town had a few chances before that  but just didn`t put them away .

After 33 minutes Keeper Robbie Powell was carried off with an ankle injury and taken to hospital which is a worry and Dave Rowe the Town Full back took over in goal , a bigger worry!!!!

After 44 minutes another shot from Jamie Richards was parried by the hapless keeper into the path of Jordan Harris who thumped the ball into the net .

Just on the stoke of half  a Jimmy Hinds surging run was ended by a terrible challenge from a Roman Glass player  . In the scrummage of afters, the player was booked and another sent off for trying to head but Towns skipper Jamie Duraine . In the mean time the Roman Glass bench decided they wanted to join in , seeing a sub red carded and one of the Roman Glass Officials sent off . Unbelievable really .

HT Town 2 Glass 0

In the second half Roman Glass were completely fired up and the Manager had decided route one was the way to go ! In all fairness he was right. They had a breeze behind them and Dave Rowe is not a goalkeeper . It wasn`t pretty but it was effective and you couldn't tell who had the extra man.

Dave Rowe made a great save after 55 mins when he was left one on one but saved with his feet.

Roman did get the ball in the net after about 60 minutes from a great ball in ,that was headed past Rowe.

The next 30 minutes was a nervy affair  with  Roman Glass pumping the ball long trying to breach the Town defense.

All credit to Towns back 5 they shut them out to secure a tough win.

It looks as though Powell will be out for over a month and Chris Wright the other Town keeper is out injured as well .

Kevin Hill will need to get a keeper in quickly, as Town now face Bridgwater on Tuesday in the Les Phillips Cup .

FYI No reports from me for a couple of weeks as a few of us are off to Port Elizabeth to watch the Cricket . UTT

So got back from South Africa at 1pm in time to watch a great game of Football !!!

Exmouth Town 0 Bridgewater 0 yes nil nil ! Plenty of chances for Town and Bridgeys keeper working over time .

Town had 4 chances in the first half which the keeper just wasnt going to let in.

The second half was a battle ,which the match officials basically ruined . They were just poor ,which has not been the case this season so far in the Western League.

Town again had a few chances ,but the keeper had a great game and wouldnt be beaten. Bridgwater had grown in confidence towards the end and peppered Town with set plays and long throws . So yep nil nil ,but two decent teams and a proper game. Not sure if this was two points lost or a decent point in the end.

Back to the ref ,There were a number of bookings for silly things, but when the Bridgwater midfielder basically cut Karl Rickard in two with a mugging of a challenge, which will probably see him out for months, the ref lost control of numerous decisions for both teams!!!

This wasn`t apart from one challenge ,a dirty game, but there must have been 6 or 7 bookings.

Im normally supportive of match officials but it was difficult to be so today.

As for the Attendance 232 a decent crowd(with City at home) ,with the best away following so far this season, around 50 who really backed Bridgwater.

Next up Roman Glass Away next Saturday UTT

Roman Glass St George 3  Exmouth Town 2

A very disappointing result in Bristol our second defeat on a 3 g pitch this season.

It started so brightly with Aarron  Denny opening the scoring in the first Minute with a well worked goal  .

Then Jordan Harris had a fine finish from 18 yards in the 10 th Minute.  Town could have a third five minutes later when the keeper made a smart save from Denny.

It then started to go all wrong. Glass were strong going forward and played the pitch well. An unusual slip from Towns best player this season Tom Gardener let the striker to coolly finish from the edge of the box 1-2, then 10 minutes later a cross from the left found an unmarked striker to nod (well neck home from 6 yards) . Then 10 minutes before half time a Glass midfielder stormed through and let fly from 25 yards giving the keeper no chance.

3 -2 HT

The second half was a bitty affair ,Town really struggling to put anything together and Roman Glass looking to lose as many minutes and crowd the referee at every opportunity. Not a great spectacle to watch, but then its not unsurprising .

Town were awarded a pen 15 minutes from Time ,but Jordan Harris smashed it straight a grateful Keeper .

That just about summed the game up.

For Town ,we are entering a difficult period ,They have lost two decent keepers to injury , and last week a Bridgwater horror tackle ended Karl Rickards Season .

They have lost Adam Bilcock to  travelling , plus other players are struggling with Injuries. So no excuses here, but it will be interesting to see how we bounce back this week.

We have a tough Les Phillips Cup game at Bridgwater on Tuesday, then another tough away day at Hallen Saturday where we have sold out a supporters coach UTT.

Hallen 4 Exmouth Town 1

Another disappointing game and a bad week for Town.

After the 3-1 defeat at Bridgwater in Mid week Town traveled to Hallen for what we knew would be a tough game.

Town have had a real problem with players out over the few weeks through Injury.

Town started the game brightly with the wind behind them and Hallen keeper made a couple of saves, one from Ben Steer when he was a couple of feet out in front of goal ,but couldn`t sort his feet out to bury it.

HT 0-0

The second half Town started well but a fifteen minute spell conceded four times ALL to defensive errors . The young lad in Goal dropped a cross for the first then had a nightmare time of it,which included the 3 rd goal when he was lobbed from 40 yards.

So at Four nil down Jordan Harris finished well to make it 4-1 and Town had a decent last 10 minutes causing the Hallen keeper to make a few more decent saves.

As I said, not a great day for the club ,but we are in a division higher than last year and doing ok.

The Attendance was  117 including 45 from Town,

Next up Cribbs at home on Wednesday. UTT

Exmouth Town 2 Wellington 0

Another comprehensive win at Southern Road see Town stumble back into the Top 3.

Town really should have won this game by 5 or 6. The Wellington keeper made 3 one on One saves.

Town opened the scoring mid way through the first half when a Jamie Durraine header beat the keeper.

HT 1-0

The second half was one way traffic with chance after chance being missed.

The Town faithful were beginning to wonder If Wellington would actually trouble the Town keeper Robbie Powell and maybe snatch something.

With six minutes to go Town were down to 10 men when Jordan Harris was sin binned for god knows what?

Fortunately in the 5 minutes of injury time Ben Steer popped up with a classy finish to make sure of the points.

FT 2-0

A decent 251 crowd ,which was boosted by a bring a kid day ,there must have been over 40 under 16`s with families and a few Tavvy Fans who came as there game was off. All good Stuff.

Next Up Willand away in the Devon Bowl .UTT

Exmouth Town 7 Chipping Sodbury  1

So I missed the 4-0 stuffing at Shepton Mallet in midweek where Town you would say had a full strength side out, minus the  players out Injured.

So Saturday with 3 of those players out Chipping Sodbury were probably a good game to have . Chippings side was a very young team and Town brushed them a side early . Goals from Denny , Steer , Harris and a bizarre OG had town 4 up at Half Time.

It was similar in the second half with goals from Shipton , Denny, Harris and  Sub Billingsly . Chipping did pull one back at 6 nil .

So this was the most one-sided game ive seen this season. It could have been 10 .

Town now move into very busy period like everyone else. Town play away at Willand on Wednesday in the Devon Bowl  , then have Brislington Saturday and then Parkway on the Monday both at home. (To be honest If we keep having the rain If we play Saturday at home it will be amazing if the pitch would be fit for the Monday !)

Only time will tell.

Attendance Saturday 194 another decent crowd .UTT

Only 4 points separating the top 6 in Western League (felt like a point gained for Parkway rather than two dropped after coming back from 2-0 down at half time to draw 2-2 courtesy of a 95 minute equaliser v Hallen). Given the horrendous pile up of fixtures that all sides now face, points on the board could be more important than games in hand. Looks like the championship, promotion and relegation issues are all going to go down to the last Saturday.

Yep Town will have a big say in it as well. We have Parkway at Home ,Bradford Home and Away and Tavvy Away . I think Parkway will win it ,but could be interesting for the rest . Bradford and Tavvy will battle it out for 2nd and Third . Town should be around the 4th place which we would have been well pleased with at the beginning of the season. UTT

Think that the sheer number of games in such a short time could produce some strange results. Hallen and Shepton Mallet could come into the mix by virtue of having played matches and got points on the board.

Very impressive there MTC but you'll have to explain mufftown! could be misconstrued that...lol

I know . Muff town came from a name people from up north (Exeter) gave Exmouth on a day or night out ,ie going down the Muff !

It just stuck with the supporters ,just a nick name .

To be fair we do have a number of supporters who now come to watch games from Exeter and we do get extra supporters when City are away.

We have used or links with Exeter City as well, to advertise fixtures as well . All good really. UTT

Good club, but the car parking is not good at all.  Nearby (fairly) public car park though. Always very welcoming though in my experience.

Cheers, to be honest the ground being near the town can cause a few issues, but theirs plenty of room in the car park ,we dont have marked spaces or anyone in a high vis ,so it can get a bit chaotic for parking when we have bigger crowds .  We always enjoy entertaining away supporters and having a beer with them ,its what its all about.

Just as a rider to that - I like Exmouth both as a town and a resort. I hope they don't change it too much.

The Town itself is like lots of places before the Virus struck, shops emptying and Charity shops thriving . We are lucky to have the glorious sea front. The Football Club is on a resurgence over the last couple of years ,We have gone from  only two mens teams and one youth team to Three mens teams and seven youth teams, Support through the gates has probably tripled . There is a lot of work to be done off the pitch to go higher ,but This is work in progress.

All good . Utt

We have Seating for 100 at Town . We have two seated stands , one old one the Bill  Ress Stand and a newer type stand (Which for some unknown reason was built to far back from the pitch! When we have bigger crowds its difficult to stop people standing in front of this stand . The picture below is the Bill Ress stand ,
