Pensilva are through to a Bodmin Sports Trophies League Cup Final against Godolphin Atlantic after overcoming St Merryn 6-3 on aggregate in the semi-final. Holding a 3-1 lead from the first leg the visitors withstood a lot of early pressure at St Merryn but the host’s inability to finish in the opening twenty minutes proved the deciding factor. Pensilva steadied the ship after earning a penalty and went on to win the second leg 3-2. Mike Shearer and Lewis Canfield were the home scorers. 

LC Phoenix finished their first season in the Premier Division with a 4-0 defeat of Callington Town and at the very worst will finish in the top four. Liam Downing scored the first with a penalty with further goals coming from Jowan Knight, Will Johnson and Kevin Hatch. 

Josh Andrews gave Foxhole a first half lead at home to North Petherwin with Aidan Dingle getting his first senior goal early in the second half to double the lead. North Petherwin then found two spells of inspired football scoring a brace of goals in two minutes in two separate spells. Adam Porter and Marius Pislabu scored a brace apiece as North Petherwin fought back to win 4-2. 

Gerrans & St Mawes United moved to within three points of Division One leaders Veryan but with a game in hand and slightly better goal difference after beating Grampound 3-0. The first goal came off a Grampound defender with goals from Sam Hadfield and Harry Wilshaw confirming the victory. Grampound need six points from their three remaining games to avoid relegation. 

St Dennis moved ever closer to the top and with games in hand remain title favourites. They beat Gunnislake 7-1 with CJ Bird hitting a hat trick, Jordi Willmott a brace and further goals from Adam Gamble and Paul Rowe. 

Sticker maintain the pressure on the leading pack after a 3-0 win at Holywell/Cubert Athletic. Jack Boardman scored the first from the spot. Liam Drake conceded an own goal with Matt Searle scoring the third. 

A Sam Smith hat trick moves North Hill closer to claiming the second promotion place in Division Three. They beat Tintagel 5-0 to move up to second and to leave the visitors in grave danger of relegation. Scott Martin and Paul Wearing completed the North Hill total. 

Boscastle lost 1-0 at champions Godolphin Atlantic to slip a point behind North Hill but with a game in hand. Ben Colquhoun scored the games only goal. 

Lifton are relegated after a 3-1 defeat at Mevagissey that sees that home club move closer to safety. Ryan Morcom scored a brace with Marco Barresi completing the home scoring. John Kappes replied for Lifton. 

St Cleer and St Breward fought out a one all draw in a game with no real meaning on the table. Ryan Chapman of St Cleer traded goals with Ben French. 

North Petherwin reserves were relegated from Division Three in midweek so went into their final game with Grampound reserves without pressure. Grampound only travelled with a bare eleven but raced into a two goal lead with Darren Mortimore getting them both. North Petherwin then hit them with three quick goals to take the lead and eventually went on to win 9-2. Adam Smith scored a hat trick and Dan Hancock a brace. The visitor’s keeper could do nothing after the break with three successive strikes from thirty yards from Wayne Downing, Ryan Hancock and retiring player-manager Lee Robinson. The last goal from perennial substitute Kyle Bartlett was even more special as the hosts finished with a big smile on their faces. 

High Street ended with a win over relegated Tregony. They won 3-1 with Ryan Best, Luke Clowes and Robert Hindle getting their goals. Jake Foster replied for Tregony. 

St Teath relegated during the week were unable to raise a side for their Division Four match at St Dennis reserves. 

The only other game in this division saw Foxhole Reserves win 5-2 at St Stephen Reserves. St Stephen went ahead in the 6th minute with Reece Willmott scoring from the penalty spot.  One minute later Rick James equalised and 40 seconds later Foxhole went 1-2 up through Caleb Hawken.  They extended their lead on the half hour when Brad Allen scored.  Foxhole then had a goal disallowed before Reece Willmott chipped the keeper to make it 2-3 in the final minute of the half. In the second half Danny Austin fired in a rocket to make it 2-4 and then Dan Charles got a double red card for dissent and was sent to the changing rooms. Foxhole went 2-5 up with a penalty in the 78th minute before Kyle Willmott pulled a goal back for St Stephen. In added time Jimmy Penhall got a straight red for a bad tackle on Curtis Dalby reducing Foxhole to nine men. 

St Eval Spitfires could now miss out on promotion from Division Five after losing their last game at Wadebridge Town 4-3. Matt Saunders scored a brace with Ladislav Andrashazi and Aaron white adding a goal apiece for Wadebridge. 

Lostwithiel Reserves thrashed Boscastle reserves 6-0. Liam Rooney scored a brace with Kevin McCormack, Sam Harman, Brandon Fisher and Nathan Jasper completing the rout. 

Week St Mary leapfrogged Looe Town in the table after a 4-0 away win to their rivals. Josh Allsop hit a hat trick with Aled Thomas getting their other goal.

Duchy League Division One @ Halawarth Park, St Mawes

Gerrans & St Mawes 3-0 Grampound

No admission/programme, although a pound was spent on the raffle and 50p on a fair cup of coffee.

This game was important for both sides as the home team are still very much in the race for promotion and the visitors before today needed 5 points from 4 games to ensure their safety at this level.

The gulf between the two clubs showed as the result was never in doubt. An own goal after 5 minutes was followed up 8 minutes later and from then on it was cruise control. A third was added when a shot from an acute angle was deflected in near the end (just after they had hit the angle of post/bar with a superb long range effort). Grampound didn't make much impression; I don't think they had a serious shot on target all afternoon.

The ground is well worth a visit if you like picturesque settings over cantilever stands - you can see across the Fal Estuary to Falmouth and being on the very edge of St Mawes has fields on three sides. Two wooden dugouts (not used today) and a changing room block are finished in dark green wood, and the pitch is roped off behind one goal and (ineffectively) on part of the side where the dugouts are.

Grampound have the long haul to Gunnislake next Saturday while Gerrans are inactive until the 3rd of May with their final 3 games all at home including against current table toppers Veryan and probable title favourites St Dennis who still have seven matches to play, all at home apart from the G&SM match and are still unbeaten in the league. With the fixtures lining up like that, I may well pay a return visit some time in May.

other scorers were jordi Willmott-2,Paul Rowe and Adam gamble unsure of gunnis scorer but it was from a goal mouth scramble.

how can you get a double red card Dave?

Cornish legend , you send off a player under a red card, he/she then commits further offences eg foul abusive offensive language, the referee then sends in separate misconduct reports for each offence, which will equal more than one red card.

you don't read of that happening very often. So that could.equal to 6 plus games them?
