Trelawny League Results Sat 10th May 2014

Recommended Posts

Trelawney Premier.

Gulval 2, Threemilestone 3.

Ryan Stephens and Will Harvey(2) with the stones goals.

The game was played at a very windy Sennen due to cricketers on Gulvals pitch, and the wind ruined any chance of a decent game. Gulvals 2nd goal was a beaut, hit from about 35 yards out on the right wing with the wind behind it, keeper had no chance.

Last game of the season for gulval and 1 more league game for the stones on monday night.

Well reffed by Mike Carter (porky)

Att approx 9.

Helston 2-1 Illogan. Mike Hallibone &Ben Leech with helstons goals. Close game as always, probably shaded by Helston getting most of the big decisions but probably shaded the 90. Sure to be a few talking points but ultimately it's redundant as game doesn't really effect the table!! Illogan slightly under strength but still be in a shift as you'd expect. Guard of honours for both sides at the start - Trelawny league champions & junior cup winners.

Div 2

Redruth Utd 2 Pendeen 2

Both sides understrength we (Redruth) had a bare 11. Pendeen started the stronger and found themselves 2 up at half time one a suspect penalty decision and the second we didnt react to a corner and luke may tapped home.

Second half a complete turnaround with us starting on top scoring two quick goals to level. That was the end of the contest really with both teams cancelling each other out apart from some silly handbags and in my opinion a stonewall pen for pendeen when are keeper took there player out but saying the pen that was given never was.

Yeah not a bad summing up, we had quite few out with hols and 1st team taking a couple but like you say there wasn't anything riding on it for us and that was a big difference Heston still needed the win and it showed.

Some good talking points as well 1 st goal was a Helston pen which not one of the 22 players or spectators knew was for except the man in the middle?? 2nd was a cracking goal to be fair good footy and well finished.

We had a goal disallowed which was called offside but it was no where near it few people in line confirmed.

We did get one back but all too late.

All the best to Helston and maybe we will meet again soon......

At least we can all laugh off some of the decisions like we did throughout the game as there wasn't anything at stake. Thanks to helston for the guard of honour. Much appreciated.

Div 5

Stithians 0 - 1 Ludgvan

The windiest conditions you could possibly imagine at the Showground meant that there wasn't much football on display! If seeing goal kicks being punted into the wind only to blow back out for a corner is your thing then Stithians was the place to be. It was a very scrappy affair resulting in Ludgvan grabbing the only goal of the game after 60mins

RNAS Culdrose Reserves 10 - 0 St Just

Airmen needed a lot of goals to take an advantage over Penryn in race for second spot. Fair play to the St Just lads playing against the horrendous wind first half with 11 men. Kept it at 1-0 for a long time. 3 goals just before half time made it 4-0. Best football I've seen us play in second half having to keep the ball on deck resulting in 6 goals as the wind just got worse. The type of wind I'm talking about where the goalkeepers kicks were going out for a corner ha'

the first disallowed goal seemed harsh as it looked to most that it was just two men going shoulder to shoulder, the offside was offside as I was the one holding the flag!! To be fair I had my flag up way before he scored!! A good yard off at least, I'm a useless Lino though and I think the mistakes I made went against Helston!! The corner that apparently wasn't and not putting my flag up when 3 players we're stood offside in front off the keeper when somebody struck the ball from the edge of the area & Barry made a good save!! Prob guilty of ball watching on that occasion! Congratulations again to Illogan & good luck in the combo, it's been a long time coming!!

As for mr Nicholls, a good referee who's prob guilty of making some interesting decisions... (Percy Stephans cup final 2012!!!) I know I should probably let it go now but still grinds me to this day!! Kept letting St Buryan back into our junior cup semi in February as well but at the end of the day as much as we moan & I do my fair share, they don't have an easy job & without them we don't play!!

Div. 4

Newlyn NA Res. 4 -vs- 0 Carharrack Res.

The visitors started the match with aplomb. Bossing the opening minutes, lively upfront, strong in the tackle, with the added threat of "Mark The Maniac" running amok up front (or was it wide on the right, or left....)? But slowly, the self-assured home side grew in stature, and suddenly, Carharrack found themselves in "a game". Clear-cut chances were few and far between, both goalkeepers remaining largely untroubled until midway through the half, a ball flew over to Jonny Baddeley to hit it on the half-volley into the top corner. Superb strike to make it one nil. Mark The Maniac upped his absurdness, only detracting from the visitors plight to get back into the game. Foul after foul given against him. Rightly so. Newlyn force a corner late in the half, and Mr Baddeley takes it, only to guide it directly in the same top corner he had found earlier. Two nil. This caused Mark to lose it completely, ignoring shouts of "calm down Mark" from his own management, something weird then happened as minutes later, he flattened goal-scorer Jonny, Newlyn quickly lost possession from the resulting free-kick, Mark regains possession for Carharrack right on the touchline, and rather surprisingly, but very skilfully, hits is straight out for a Newlyn corner from only just inside his own half! Marvellous. I can only guess that the red-mist had come down so thick that he could not make out which way he was meant to be kicking. (At least it was the ball this time). But also, he then apparently slid on something, losing his footing, twisting his knee, hitting a bush and collapsing in a heap in the stinging nettles, long grass and onion flowers that line the far side of our pitch. I was on the other touchline, so could not witness this at close quarters, but it was all rather odd. He seemed to be laying there, all that was visible was a leg and arm, the rest of his body hidden by foliage. For a few minutes, surrounded by a cluster of players, the game was stopped. But then, just as oddly, with "Mark The Fallen Maniac" laying where he fell, and now abandoned by all, the game continued, with Newlyn taking their corner!! Weird. Anyway, 2 nil at half time. The wind direction was largely with Carharrack in the second half, so Newlyn had to be aware that it could play a factor. However, keeping cool, and calm, the home team kept their authoritative grip on the game. Mark had finally surfaced, and someone had helped patch up his cut knee during half time. With the game slipping away from the visitors, someone made the decision to reintroduce him. This was probably not for footballing reasons, it appeared that he could barely walk, so we will just have to imagine why he was so desperate to get back on. Anyway, with the game going on around him, unable to get close to anyone or anything, he was withdrawn from proceedings. Newlyn continued to press, and Jonny decided to make it a memorable day for himself by grabbing probably the pick of his 3 goals by blasting in from 20 yards, far-top-corner again, in off the post, rolling along the back of the net. Nice. Carharrack continued to huff and puff, but could make no real headway, half-chances being the nearest they came. Newlyn cracked in a fourth, from a corner, and that was that. Carharrack never made it back for a drink, so we were unable to catch-up with Mark to see how he was.
