SWPL matches

Recommended Posts

With Penzance not playing until Tuesday, it is certain that they will not top the table at the end of the day.

The match of the day looks to be between Elburton and Witheridge both of whom could top the table with a win.

Ivybridge could also go top with a win at home to fast improving Bovey Tracey.

The other team currently level on points with Penzance is Torpoint. The face a tricky home fixture against Buckland.

At the other end, Falmouth will be looking to pull away from the wrong end with a win at home to Parkway.

The only Cornish derby of the day sees St Blazey go in as favourites at home to Liskeard.

Dartmouth will look to over come a poor start with a win at home to struggling Clyst.

Lanson are still struggling with injury problems and will do well to get their first win of the season. They face Cullompton at home.

The SWPL West is also tight at the top with six teams on nine points from four games. These are the fixturs today involving those teams:

Newquay (6th) v Porthleven (2nd)

Dobwalls (9th) v Vospers Oak Villa (4th)

Wendron United (17th) v St Austell (3rd)

Surely the pick of the matches is at Mount Wise!

In SWPL East, Alphington look to maintain their 100% record with a win at SWPL new boys Bickleigh.

Enjoy your football :c:

FA Vase: Bodmin Town 2 Portishead 1 (after extra time)

71 mins: James Clarke put Portishead in front from penalty.

90 mins: Mark Berry equalises.

Extra time:

98: Steve Colwell scores winner from what was a right wing cross.

Referee booked eight, six from Bodmin. Truly awful official. Not a dirty tackle in the game.

Let me guess Newquay had 8 players missing? HA! Judge will be on here in about 4 days time when he has thought of all the excuses to right down..

Great result Porthleven and well done Kev Richards. Re-built the team and has done a great job so far!

Exellent entertainment at Newquay with both sides trying to play the game the right way. Felt that we just edged it & it seems my team dont know when to give up. Newquay equalised in the 92nd min & we go straight up the other end to score the winner 2min later. Yes we had players missing, Mike Brewer, Paul Ainscough, Matt Fox, Alan Thomas, Chris Morris & Justin Searle all unavailable & Ashley Stidwell played for 85min despite being on antibiotics for the last 3 days, but i know Jim Hilton will not use that as an excuse, Newquay will be there or thereabouts come next may.

Port scorers were Dan Stidwell 3 & Rob Robinson

A big well done to my team, you were all magnificent & good luck to Jim & Newquay for the rest of the season.

Guest The Judge aka RED OR DEAD

Newquay lost 3-4 at home to Porthleven, Glenn Rogers and Andy Morris with 2 goals for Newquay in front of just 95 fans. Highlight of the game was the home debut as sub of 16yr old Danny Carne. Foxhole away next week with 4 or 5 changes to todays line up I should imagine.

Not going to say anymore as idiots ruin anything I put on this forum.

Just good old-fashioned football banter! :D

Is that why some get banned Dave ? I may have a few knockers on the forum but it is a different matter when I travel about, at every ground someone comes and shakes my hand or comes and have a chat due to my postings on the forum. However, the one thing we all agree on, the forum is going downhill and you know it, too many idiots who just stir things up.

I knock one City man and match officials when I see that things have gone wrong, but too many just knock for the fun of it without contributing to a proper debate. 4 people I know have stopped posting due to the crass comments some make.

So to all you idiots out there, carry on, you know who you are and if you respond to this, then you are one !

great result for Porthleven today, Newquay have shipped 10 goals in 2 games i think, not good!! Also whats goin on with Penryn this season?

:clapper::thumbsup::yahoo:

Hayle won today against a better side. penryn were brilliant with their passing and only their finishing let them down. ok we won ugly. we will take that gratfully. unlucky ryn you are a good side.

as for newquay cant beleive all that. judge im gutted for you mate. i guess world dominations out of the question now buddy. looking forward to our next meeting mate. its all gone quiet in the corner. better sort your defence out and thats for sure. :clapper::thumbsup: :yahoo:

For those people who read the forum and actually process things that are written then are very few surprise with newquays last couple of performances.

These are not excuses just possible reasons for things posted above. 10 goals in last 2 games. Last 2 games both centre backs that started the season were unavailable- 1 moved away 1 suspended. In front of the defence yu are also missing the ball winner and grafting of skipper Middleton- again suspended.

I think that the team will take time to settle and Jim will need to look at different pairings at the back. When you get the chance you must play well and earn the shirt. The team as a whole played poor mid week and conceded 6. Defensively they were bad. From the midfield through to the back. Dean played that night and was one of possibly a number of changes yesterday.

I didn't see the game as was at a wedding but wouldn't have been surprised if there were more changes from mid week.

Unlucky lads. back on task next week. Its a long season.

p.s Good win for Hayle-!!!

As you can see from my post, we also had 6 players missing yesterday, but, like us, Newquay have 30 players to call on on a sat because you have a combination league side. It really frustrates me when i hear teams that have reserve sides bemoaning the fact they have players missing. Newquay had 5 subs yesterday, we had 1 ! I took 1 player from our combo side to sit on the bench because i didnt want to leave them short, so, you had 16 players, we had 12, who were short of players ?

Why dos'nt someone from Newquay just come on here & admit that , on the day, you were beaten by a side that played better than you & wanted it more than you !

Maybe the Judge would have written an honest report, without all the excuses ! :angry2:

PS, well done Joejellico on a honest report, it can be done !

I agree Kev, however theres more chance of Wendron winning the league than anyone from Newquay admtting they were beaten by a better team on the day. All of the Newquay supporters need to get out of their little dream world and realise Newquay arent actually as good as they all like to think they are, as proven by us 3 times last season! Great result yesterday and i look forward to our visit to Gala Park next month

Kevin,

My post was not aimed at yesterdays game/your post in any way. I wasn't their so cannot comment on the result. Like I said in the truro report thread, Newquay have a good enough team/squad at the club to put out teams good enought to win games but at truro they just didn't play well enough and deserved to lose that game.

I said nothing about yesterdays result or that Newquay only lost because they had players out. I would bet they weren't good enough on the day- hence they lost. So well down to your team

My post was aimed at those who were saying about newquay struggling at the back and shipping goals and explaining the possible reasons for this. People were also saying about Blatchys situation ,although he started in 6-2 defeat.

I would just like to say that Porthleven totally deserved all three points yesterday. As Kev said I agree that his team wanted the win more than the Newquay team. Again the team that started the game was more than capable of winning it but our all round performance was not good enough and individual mistakes lead to Port's goals although they were well taken by those boys. After Wednesday nights poor performance I was looking for a positive reaction and whilst there were one or two very good individual performances from Newquay players we did not function as a team. No excuses we will just have to try harder on the training ground to correct those mistakes and ensure that they do not happen again. Whilst overall I was disappointed as I'm sure a lot of our supporters were together with the players there were still some very positive aspects of our game. Glenn Rogers scored a great 25 yard free kick to put us ahead. Robbo scored for the 4th game in a row to equalise for the first time and Andy Morris had an excellent game in central defence and equalised for the 2nd time in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately when we had twice clawed our way back into the game we contrived to gift Port the winning goal with virtually the last kick of the game. Well done to Kev and his Port side that worked it's socks off to gain the victory the team deserved.

If blatchy was one of the best defenders in the league how comes his previous 2 clubs goonhavern and wendron constantly shipped plenty of goals??? :P

you obviously dont know Dean Blatch very well then if you have come out and said that!!

he had countless offers from lots of teams whilst at those clubs but he is unlike many other players in this league, he is a very loyal player and time and time again turned the offers away and as far as im aware it took alot of pursuading from Jim to get him to Newquay! he played at those clubs due to playing with mates before you ask!!

Judge excuse from Wednesday:

Middleton, McKune, Hartigan all suspended, Bunt, Rigby and Sam Hunter all on holiday + Dave Venn unavailable. A Host of Combo players drafted in and even a Duchy 4 lad made his debut as a sub.

Highlight of the game was the home debut as sub of 16yr old Danny Carne.

Bit of a contradiction.

Probably another one of the idiots who just come on here to wind people up. I am sure with time Dean will find his feet at Newquay and put in performances like he did at Perran on a weekly basis. Patience is the key as players are currently building relationships and at times doing jobs in other position. It's a building process. The squad up the club is strong and the season long. There don't seem to be a great deal between many clubs so it will be an interesting season ahead.

Good luck to all.

Wendron 0-4 St Austell, shame Wendron ship so many soft goals, plenty of fight, and spirit, shipped 4 more goals from basic errors, third goal was a corker. Wendron just lack belief, all they need is 3/4 older players, which blended with some of the younger ones would help the team. The team has some good youngters, 2 lads at the back, and the lad in centre mid, lad in the middle looks a class player, 7 shirt he wore, but no support. St Austell nice team to watch, lots of good movement and passing.

Good luck to both teams.
