Mike Odgers
A Marc Thorne penalty 17m settled this top of the table clash at Bolitho Park before a bumper gate approaching 400. A second penalty by Ryan Honey hit the upright. Info from the SWPL website. First Home league defeat in 14 games since Nov.19th 08 1-3 v Falmouth
Home Waters
a bumper gate approaching 400. Parkway Officials are calling it 415 - that should be the submitted number. Good evening though for the independents, although a lack of goals, plenty of action, incidents, and excitement.
Paul
Huge win for Saltash. Excellent crowd. Friday night football certainly working to pull in the crowds. Or is it that the Plymouth public have seen enough of the championship shower from up the road??
Guest The Judge aka RED OR DEAD
I'd say it's the Friday night factor, I've been urging Newquay to get more friday night games this season and hope that at least 3 get arranged. Footy fans love friday nights, crap soaps on TV, a good excuse for more drinking and get to watch another game on Saturday, what more reasons do you need ? Mike Odgers
A record League gate for Bolitho Park which has never seen a sub 100 attendance. A good 415 gate but it falls well short of the Premier League record of 491 Buckland v Witheridge last Easter. The record for a SWPL game was 737 at Mount Wise, Newquay v Godolphin in Division 1 West.(Boxing day) Other big SWPL(W) crowds 489 Godolphin v Newquay 439 Porthleven v Penzance (Boxing day) 411 Penzance v Mousehole (Friday night) The record for th SWPL East is 421 Royal Marines v Exeter Civil Service (Easter Hop)
Paul
Evening Mike. Any idea what the biggest crowds are that have been on a average saturday or midweek? So basically, not a friday one off, Bank holiday, Xmas or Easter fixture?? Cheers,
NORTH DEVON DWELLER
Mike This game wasn't a top of the table clash because if you look at the table at the moment Witheridge are top followed by Elburton Villa
