Guest Postie Pidge
FALMOUTH TOWN 3 - 0 MOUSEHOLE (H/T 0-0) Falmouth overcame a very determined and battling Mousehole tea who held out until the 76th minute. Despite having the majority of the play Town were unable to carve their way through the visiting defence where the Mousehole keeper had an inspired game. Falmouth started at a fast pace but after 15 minutes the rhythm seemed to disappear and the visitors crept back into the game. Neil Slateford had a great game for Town and his pace often took him past defenders and on one occasion turned into the box before driving his shot across the face of goal. Danny O'Hagan blasted over from close in after getting on the end of a Slateford cross. The persistent second half rain made for a greasy surface and the Mousehole keeper had a few let offs as the slippery ball often slipped from his grasp but was alsways helped by the resolute defenders. Just past the hour mark Nigel Thwaites, one of six players who started on the bench hit the bar with a header from close in and a minute later Dave Rawlings saw his shot well saved. The opening goal came in the 76th minute when ex Argyle man O'Hagan skipped through the defence and around the keeper to tap the ball home from close range. Two minutes later and Falmouth had a second. Matt Drummond was on hand to shot hoem from six yards after the ball rolled loose from a goalmouth scramble. The resulkt was sealed in the 86th minute when a blasting shot from Richard Wilcox rebounded off the post and O'Hagan beat a defender to the ball as it rolled slowly over the line. A good start for Falmouth who take on Penzance at Penlee Park on Saturday (3pm). Town starting lineup: Jason Chapman; Ben Stidwell, Richard Wilcox, Tom Smith (capt), Hugh Howlett, Jimmy Alexander, Nick Pugliese, Neil Slateford, Danny O'Hagan, Matt Drummond, Rob Carey. Subs: Nigel Thwaites, Richard Kellow, Sean Flynn, Dan Stidwell, Dave Rawlings and Jamie Thomson. It was rolling subs. Referee: Ian Roberts (Camborne) Assistants: Nigel Nicholls and Justin Moses (Falmouth)

Mike Odgers
Who was the Mousehole keeper?-guessing Ben Nurse and for the record can anyone reel off the gallant Mousehole squad? The pitch stood up well considering the dismal wet conditions throughout but I did miss the Pre season Daisies! Good effort Mark, keep it up. green & white
The Keeper was Jay Blewett who has stepped up with me from Mousehole 2nds, Ben Nurse is away at uni fulltime now. Mousehole Squad: Jay Blewett, James Tonkin, Mark Trevail, Toby Cape, Steve Miller, Barrie Prowse, Jon Tonkin, Perran Reynolds, Joel Keen, Emil Ivanov, Ross Badcock Subs: Cas James, Will Elstone, Jamie Robinson, Denzil Keast & Sean Nana Obeng Just like to add very well done to the lads tonite, everyone put in a good shift against a good passing side like Falmouth Town & were only undone by a couple mistakes when we ran out of steam! 7 some great saves from Jay. Thanks must go to Falmouth, with the weather they could of called off game but went ahead, hope pitch is not to bad after but it is looking good down there, well defo before hand anyway!!! The Python
Firstly congratulations must go to the ground staff the pitch was looking great, Secondly well done to Mousehole and there management I thought for the first 30 mins your lads were chasing shadows but they stuck in there and made a good game of it, but towards the end they struggled a liitle with fitness, don't hear alot on this website from them but could be an unwanted problem to a lot of the so called favourites in there league. Falmouth's movement with and off the ball for the first 30 mins was a delight to the eye, the player that seemed to stick out was Alexander in the middle of the park, a good signing by all accounts, tom smith was strong at the back, and o'hagen up front not yet linking up with drummond but i'm sure with time it will work. Alan Carey kept faith with a few of the youngsters from last season Slates Ben Stidwell Rob Carey and Hugh howlett all started how much do you read into that ?. How ever how do they keep the the rest of the squad happy is there to be the famouse rotation system should be interesting. It's still earlie but Falmouth are looking a strong outfit should be a good season for the Falmouth Town supporters (at last). My last note on this game I payed £4 to get in like the other 70 or 80 people that were there, hopefully they will agree with me that games like this will drag people out of there arm chairs and away from there TV's. green & white
The lad Alexander in the middle of the park was Falmouths best player by far last nite, should think he will have many assists this season if last nite is any thing to go by. Got to be careful not to get too carried away after just one game, it a promising display but our feet have to stay firmly planted on the ground!!! cornishteddyboy
Has Ross Badcock signed from Penzance Combo to Mousehole or was he just playing as it was a friendly match?
Mike Odgers
I did a head count of 100 just before half time which despite the dismal weather was up from 65 in the corresponding fixture last season. Mousehole must take credit for their workrate and discipline in keeping their shape until the final 15m when Town notched the three goals. It was not all one way as Jason Chapman was tested from the half dozen corners the visitors created. It was a pleasure to see Falmouth get off the PSF mark playing some first time passing football with off the ball player movement and understanding is bound to get even better. Eye catching was the individual runs by Neil Slateford-could be his season.
