Penwith exiles 6 newlyn non athletico 1

anthoer good win tonight, didn't play as well as Saturday tonight but still got the result at the end of the day. 2 early goals from us shortly followed by newlyns striker slotting in a nice goal for 2-1 2 more goals went in 4-1 at the half time whistle. A competitive game bit of pushing and that going on but all in all  a good local Derby the referee was very good tonight good luck to newlyn for the rest of the season. Well done to all the boys tonight another good win lads! X

Premier

Chacewater 1  St.Agnes Res. 6  h/t 1-4

Fielding a number of former home favourites, the visitors scored three goals in eleven minutes just before the break, non better that a 35 yard free-kick by Gavin Bennetts.Chacewater played well in spells and a 35 yard free-kick by Josh Symons brought the scores level.

A good sized crowd had a full evening's enjoyment from the match.

Match very well officiated by Marc Rose and thanks to him and the St.Agnes lads for coming back to the pub afterwards.

Division 3

Frogpool Reserves 7-1 St Erme

Shorter report this week. But another quality performance, and a second 7-1 win in a row.

Sam Macwilliam probably scored the pick of the goals with a beautiful strike into the bottom corner first time on the corner of the box. Adding to his first goal, which was also a good finish.

Man of the match Jack Froud also scored two quality goals, the best one coming after a ball from Charlie Martin cut the defence apart before Jack calmly finished it.

St Erme got one back, but Aaron Coveney got one to kill the game at the start of the second half against his old club, Charlie Martin also got on the scoresheet.

Best moment was for 17-year-old Cameron Hamshaw who got his first goal in men's football with a stunning strike from twenty yards with his left boot.

Roll on next week, hopefully we can keep this going.

Div 1

Penwith Exiles 6 (4) -v- (1) 1 Newlyn Non Athletico

Here's your starter for 10: "Who is favourite to win the Division 1 title this season?". Buzzzzzz. "Wentworth-Montgomery - Football College Oxford". "Penwith Exiles?". Correct

I missed the first 2 home goals, so not sure what was going on for them, but arrived in time to see a tight offside decision against Newlyn to be described as "miles off". Ahhhh, no. Plain and simple, no. If he was an inch off, then he's off. If he was an inch on-side, let him go. But anyway, it was tight, and got flagged. It was then interesting to observe the positioning of the assistant on the line. This was not good. I do a fair bit of running-the-line, and try to keep in line with the last defender (being what one is supposed to do). This was not the case here, and so future decisions were therefore going to be questionable. As it happens, due to this poor positioning, and my lucky positioning on the sidelines, I was perfectly placed to see a Newlyn through-ball reach an off-side attacker, for him to score a goal. Irony? Anyway, at 2-1, I thought this could be a good game.

However, as the half went on, it was clear that Penwith were stronger than Newlyn all over the pitch, winning nearly every contested ball, first to the second ball, etc etc. They play the surface very well, use the space very well, are well organised, and have several players playing at least a couple of divisions below their true potential. By half-time, they had increased their lead to 4-1.

Newlyn had a bit of a rollocking at half-time, and it had an effect as there was more of a contest in the second period. Longer periods of Newlyn pressure resulted, but were still unable to beat the organised defence. At the other end, Penwith continued to be dangerous, and forced a couple of good saves from the Newlyn keeper. But ultimately, he was beaten a further 2 times to make the final scoreline. Interestingly, by the end of the game, the home keeper had morphed from a young slim lad, through a taller more mature man into a huge.......let's just leave it there shall we!

Not so much University Challenge of course, more like Universally Challenged.

The best team won, and will continue winning.
