It is because a number of clubs higher up the pyramid are experiencing similar, that I have been saying for a long time Truro City could get automatic promotion, even though they may not win Division 1 S/West.

Should that not be the case, leagues may find it necessary to reduce the number of clubs competing to 20, this could be more preferable than expecting clubs to move up into leagues they themselves would find it hard to compete and lowering the standard.

I would like to think the FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION were currently discussing what action IF ANY they propose to or not take in an emergency situation. Too many clubs are in trouble to make it possible for direct action unless the F.A has millions locked away that Joe public is not aware of.

The F.A should be consulting with clubs (in the form of a questionaire) about their current financial etc standing, some clubs currently attempting to punch in a league above their resourses may be SAVED if IMMEDIATE action were taken, there is too little time between seasons to expect everything for the good of non league football to be satisfactorily resolved.

What a shame to see a club like that in so much trouble. The ground maybe old but when we went there to watch St Blazey it had something about it. A real non league ground with big terracing. Great day out. But how can they cope when paying wages of £2000 a week. Madness!!! :(

Debt ridden Merthyr Tydfill are set to be wound up by the Companies Court in London on Wednesday.

Merthyr supporters trust are set to make an 11th.hour bid to save the club.

Finishing 7th. in the Southern League Premier the club has no electrical power at its Pennydarren Park ground.

It is a far cry from that glorious day in 1987 when they defeated Italian Serie 'A' Atlanta 2-1 in the first leg of the European Cup Winners Cup and 6 seasons in the Conference until 1995.

It is 20 years to the week that another famous Welsh club Newport County were wound up.

Guest Man on the Post

Very sad. I think I read somewhere that Merthyr Tydfill were a League team in the 1920's, maybe Division 3 South. Is that right Mike?

There was a Merthyr TOWN that was in the new 3rd div in 1920, went into 3 South when North and South were formed a couple of seasons later, and it left in 1929. Don't know if it was voted out or resigned. Never finished above half way and had a couple of seasons finishing bottom, which didn't mean automatic relegation in those days.

Not actually a Southern league Club but-

Darwen F.C. of the North West Counties League Division 1 (Step 6)

Owner Kevin Henry (yes thats his name) has withdrawn his company from the Football club which effectively means they will cease to exist at the end of the season.

The F.A. have warned the League not to include them next season.

A.suggestion has been raised that their Anchor Ground will make room for houses or a Motorway service station.

Darwen were formed in 1870 playing Rugby and cricket and first played F.Association rules in 1875.

Darwen are considered to have played the first ever floodlit match in 1878 v Blackburn. (So come on you straggling SWPL clubs without lights).

So there is another vacancy in the 2009/10 F.A.Cup

Stand by for AFC Darwen to affiliate to the local County FA next season.

Fisher Athletic who finished bottom of the Conference South were today wound up with immediate effect by the High Court in London for non payment of £250,000 to the Inland revenue.

So there is no trip for Truro to the Docklands of London next season.

As Southern League Champions in 1987 Fisher Athletic on their Cornish tour visited Bickland Park in a Pre season friendly winning 5-1

Bloody hell Mike, your full of good news. :D

I think it goes to show that throwing money at a football club at all cost will catch up with you further down the line. Some big names on the non league circuit are being wiped out. The Truro fans would be missing out if they dont get a trip to Merthyr. A cracking non league ground, old but a gem of a ground!!

Had Fisher survived they would probably have been playing in the Isthmian League next season.

Fisher Athletic have not played at Docklands for many years, ground sharing in East Dulwich with Dulwich Hamlet.

Away supporters would more likely run into Delboy at Peckham which is so close to SE22.

Two more clubs have entered administration

Northwich Victoria (for the second time 2005) were relegated from the Conference and will start somewhere next season with minus points.

AFC Hornchurch who folded as Hornchurch FC in 2005 will also start next season on a minus in the step 3 Isthmian League.

Latest on Southampton is that it is unlikely a buyer can be found in time and reforming as AFC?Southampton could see them pushed down the Non League Pyramid to restart again.

Its not out of the question that Truro could visit St. Mary's Stadium in a league match in the new season

Rymans (Isthmian) Premier club Tonbridge Angels who reached the playoffs have called for an open supporters meeting next week after concerns that their main benefactor and chairman has resigned from the club.

Its looking like a nightmare for the F.A and Leagues to restructure the Pyramid in time for the off in August.

Perhaps it would be easier to give any solvent club a +points start LoL.
