Newquay AFC 5 - 0 Camelford

Middleton 2, Palmer 2, OG (although Palmer is trying to claim it)

Penzance away on Friday, Newquay Loyal should be travelling in good numbers, what pub should we use if the clubhouse is not open at 6.15pm ? I have heard the Yacht is a good option, what say the locals ?

Hmm strange game at Buckland tonight I'm not really one for slagging of officials just for the hell off it but i'm sure a few people left the ground scratching their heads at the officials performance.

Torpoint started much the bright and wasted two good chances in the first ten minutes with one being cleared off the line, Buckland Scored in the 11th minute completely against the run of play with some bad defending by the Torpoint side, Buckland looked the far better balanced side and seemed to cause torpoint all sorts of problems when attacking. Torpoint went close to getting an equaliser through liam thornton but the Buckland keeper pulled of a good save

Torpoint again started brightly in the second half but didn't really threaten the buckland goal, Buckland increased their lead in around the 50th minute again more poor defending by the torpoint side but we were down to ten men by that point (i will come to the sending off later), Buckland seemed to take their foot of the gas and allowed torpoint to get back into the game and torpoint pulled a goal back in the 85th minuteish, torpoint nearly equalised through chris maskell but only a great point blank save from the keeper with his face kept buckland in front for what looked to set up and frantic finish but the ref put paid to that.

Ok onto the officials absolutely dire, end of the first half referee and linesman missed a stone wall penalty for buckland but waved play on. In the second half also missed another blatant penalty for buckland, can't really blame the ref for the sending off he only went on the info the linesman gave him but how do you send the wrong player off?????? So in the second half we had a sending off which took the ref about 3mins to deal with including injury to buckland player, a head injury to a buckland player which required treatment and 3 subs made how much stoppage time did he play not one bit 45 mins dead now i'm not usually sad enough to start my stop watch when the game kicks off but for the second half i did and when he blew up it was on 45:00:00 I know everybody makes mistakes but this guy tonight made umpteen.

So we were denied the grandstand finish can't really work out if torpoint deserved a point or not but it would have been nice to see.

Oh MOTM for me Bucklands number 7 all of Bucklands good play came through this guy sorry didn't catch his name.

Oh dear Crosser, and I thought it was just the lowly West Div that had to suffer ! Tonight, we had 3 appointed officials but the ref decided he was the only one by ignoring the other two. Still, he had little to do other than not give Camelford a penalty (it looked like it from the main stand, the lino flagged from the opposite side from us but the ref waved play on) on speaking with those in Hellfire Corner, the forward slipped over rather than being brought down by the keeper, so fair play ref.

Any news on pubs near Penlee anyone ?

Yacht Inn (Promenade) is not far away Judge; while on the way towards the ground you could call into the Alexandra Inn (Alexandra Road) and/or the Bath Inn (Cornwall Terrace) - both are little more than a stone's throw from Penlee. :drink::smiley20:

The league tables always look a mess when you have clubs with at least 4 or 5 games in hand. Dosnt do much to make it look a good league when teams are at the top but played so many more games etc.

Judge...cant remember the name, but theres an irish pub as you enter Penzance, near the railway station. Not bad. Or in the town there was a decent pub next to the main co-op in the main street. If I didnt have out pool finals night i might have made the trip.

Torpoint Imp, it was many seasons ago back in the good old days of the SWL, when a referee made a complaint about the stick he was getting from Hellfire Corner (by the tea bar), the name stuck and was adopted by the fine upstanding souls in the vacinity that normally wouldn't say boo to a goose. It was around 9 seasons ago, that the hardcore fans took over the main stand and have called it home ever since.

Unfortunately, my mobile broadband signal is so poor that I am unable to load photos onto the forum, no doubt some kind person from PZ will take a few piccies of Cornwalls largest and most colourful (RED/WHITE) flag, along with many new additions to the Newquay collection (sorry Blazey, you still ain't in our league).

Many thanks for the pub info, no doubt we shall frequent one or two prior to heading to the Magpie club.

League table shows that all is now right with the world, natural order has been restored and Newquay are above the pub team !
