worst performance of the season so far from us. Comedy of errors for large parts of the game, Gifting minver 3 of the 5 goals and they had a pen missed.

Went 1-0 down after a lapse of concentration between Zak and carts from our own throw in to allow the minver forward to go through 1 on 1 against martindale and finish superbly from a slight angle. We had brief spells of half decent pressure which allowed us to get forward and in doing so on the odd occasion we managed to force the minver CB to turn a good cross from Ryan warren into his own net, 1-1 HT.

Less said about the second half the better. Pen gave away in the opening minutes and while the HT team talk was optimistic and motivating that was all shattered when 2 of our CB’s decided to go through the back of the minver forward inside the box, to our relief green? I think dragged his pen wide. Normally that would kick you on and give you a spark however the opposite happened for us and we played as bad as I’ve ever seen. The second goal came from a nicely hit shot from the edge of the box which unfortunately slipped through Harvey’s hands, 2-1. Can’t remember the third goal exactly but it was class from the home side and from then on we crumbled and gave up. Fourth and fifth goal came and to be honest it could have ended up eight or nine.

back down to earth with a bump for us after the impressive “team” performance last week. The only bright spark for us IMO was mike heron as per usual.

home against wadebridge next week.

North Petherwin 1 v 3 St. Mawgan

Petherwin Goal Scorer: Shadrick 90m

Pitch held up well despite all the rain we had through the week and the downpour at midday after calling the game on at 10.30.

With 7/8 1st team members out for various reasons a game against an improving St Mawgan side was always going to be difficult and it proved to be.

St Mawgan were very direct and used their significant height difference to their advantage and looked dangerous from set plays. Their goal came around the 20th minute with some neat football from the right into midfield with their forward latching on to a nicely weighted pass who then tried to loft it over the on rushing Coles in goal but shot was going wide until number 10 nodded it in at the back post. From here until half time there was no real chances but St Mawgan were on top and looked the most likely to score again.

We had a calm and positive HT team talk but within 5mins of the restart found ourselves 2-0 down as farrar shined it into his own net. From here I'd say we grew into the game and dominated possession but rarely troubled the St Mawgan defence, although farrar should have scored but missed his header from 6 yards after a well worked corner. As we continued to push St Mawgan got a dubious 3rd as they hit us on the counter, personally i thought this was offside as we had all players in their half but our lino missed it and their number 10 who played well and got his second of the game. We did manage to get a consolation goal as Shadrick half volleyed home a Watts freekick from 12 yards.

Well refereed by Bryan Holden & congrats to St Mawgan they deserved the win and to be in the next round. Was pleased for young Charlie Barriball who made his 1st team debut.

For us we need to pick oursleves up and hopefully welcome players back for the local derby on Saturday vs Launceston 2s.

North Petherwin 1-3 St Mawgan

A wet trip up the A30 left us less than confident of playing any football on Saturday, but credit to North Petherwin and their ground staff who provided us with a good playing surface. Worth noting without these volunteers we wouldn’t have had these facilities so thanks for that.

North Petherwin had a large squad and had 8/9 players starting who beat us 6-1 earlier in the year. With only one recognised forward in our squad we knew we had to play well to have any chance of progressing in the cup.

Onto the game and we started fast and settled on the ball, controlling the opening exchanges. Good passing football resulted in a few dangerous bits of play but we didn’t quite have the finishing touches in the final third. A couple of good chances came from set pieces, one off the line and one off the bar - we were looking likely to take the lead.

After a good start, we broke the deadlock - Maull with a great through ball to the impressive Jordan who superbly lifted his cross over the on rushing keeper straight onto Tilston head who was 3 yards out. Rest of the half was controlled by ourselves but we didn’t really threaten the scoreline again,. North Petherwin were going direct but the conditions meant they didn’t have much luck, then the half time whistle was upon us.

The perfect start to the second half saw us double our lead, great play down the right and another good run from Jordan saw us carve upon the back line again and the cross from Jordan was turned into the net by a defender, with Tilston ready to tap home from a yard out - nothing less than we deserved based on the first 50 minutes of play.

North Petherwin tried to change the tie by making changes and trying to get on the ball, but we were firm in our defence and made it hard for them on a pitch that was starting to get heavier. North Petherwin missed their only chance of the game in the 70th minute when their forward headed the air in front of goal, still no shot on target.

Tackles, if you can call them that, started coming thick and fast seeing Petherwins players find themselves in the book. Then came the big moment for us, a great through ball caught out a back line that were all at sea and Tilston ran through on goal before squaring the ball to Lyden to tap home from close range. Only a consolation from North Petherwin in the 90th minute stopped us from having the prefect day.

Well reffed in tricky conditions, into the next round we go!
