Dave Deacon
Great result for Torpoint Tuesday evening as well. Can anyone tell us more?
Foul Throw 3
I know we travelled with a squad of 15 which for a ridiculous 4 1/2 hour round trip on a Tuesday night is good going so fair play to them all. 0-3 and 1-4 down I'm sure the point will feel quite nice but I know no more than that. Hopefully Robbie can tell us more. Dave Deacon
L.Gibbons
As Callum said, it was a good squad for Dean to take to Shepton on a Tuesday night. The League had been looking to reschedule but to no avail. Sure Dean would've been ripping his hair out when we went 3-0 after 21 minutes but reading through the Shepton tweets, we looked like we could be in the game if not for some clinical finishing from the hosts. To then come back from 4-1 to draw with Crawford hitting the post with the last kick of the game is testament to how far we've come this season. Goals from Hillson(2), Richards and Damerell. I'm sure @The Torpoint Massive will provide his usual match report once he finishes work. Dave Deacon
SomersetObserver
A crazy game of football and a very un Shepton Mallet like match as they are usually team who are very solid defensively but who struggle to score goals, I would imagine Torpoint are the opposite of that. Whilst Shepton were 3-0 up at half time it was harsh on Torpoint and didn't really reflect the half. Then when Torpoint got one back almost straight after half time I thought game on only for Shepton to respond straight away to make it 4-1 and that I thought would have put the game to bed. But no sooner had Shepton restored their 3 goal lead it was reduced to 2 again and from then on Torpoint were in the ascendency & once the third goal went in it was only a matter of time before the equaliser came, the only surprise was that after they got it they didn't go on and get the winner. The Torpoint Massive
Report – Tuesday 14th March 2023 Shepton Mallet 4-4 Torpoint Athletic Toolstation Western League, Premier Division With Robbie Morris at The Playing Fields On a cold Tuesday night in Somerset with driving rain and sleet in the first half, Torpoint Athletic battled well to come back from being 3-0 down at half time to show true character to claim a very well deserved point at The Play Fields and deep into stoppage time, Elliot Crawford hit the bottom post and the visitors could of even nicked three points. The hosts came out the brightest of both teams and took the lead on the fifth minute after putting pressure on their visitor’s right from start. Danny Constable broke clear of the visiting defence to strike home with his left foot from 18 yards to put the home side in front with an early lead. Two minutes later Shepton Mallet doubled their lead when Jasper Jones puts a through ball across to Constable, who out paces the visitor’s defence, he squares the ball across to Sam Jordan to coolly finish past Jason Peters the visiting keeper from 15 yards and his debut for hosts. On the 18th minute, the hosts extend the lead further when Jasper Jones blasts home from 12 yards after being played in by Constable and this match looked over as a contest in the first 20 minutes, however the hosts under estimated their visitors. A couple of minutes later, Torpoint started to come into the match and had their first real chance when Darren Hicks had his rasping effort from 20 yards well saved by home keeper Tom Easterbrook, who put the ball around the post. Just past the half hour mark, Torpoint’s Ryan Richards blasted his effort across goal, which was inches away from the far post. After the break, the visitors came out all guns blazing and reduced their deficit within the opening two minutes. An angled free kick on the edge the area by Elliot Crawford found Sam Hillson to head home unmarked from 10 yards. Immediately after the restart the home side restored their three goal advantage when Josh Jenkins left footed cross found Danny Constable to fire home for his second goal of the evening. A couple minutes later the visitors reacted and again reduced their deficit to two goals when good build play that found Ryan Richards to break clear and blast home from 18 yards. The visitors are now putting sustained pressure on their hosts, who are now starting to look ragged. On the 65th minute, Torpoint reduce their deficit by a single goal when Curtis Damerell fires home from close range after being played in by Paul Heveran. Torpoint are continuing with their onslaught of the Shepton goal and with five minutes remaining it’s all square. Heveran fires the ball into the area for Sam Hillson to blast home from close range, to spark jubilant celebrations from the Torpoint dugout and travelling supporters. In the final minute of stoppage time, the visitors are now going for a winner and an angled low shot from Elliot Crawford rebounds off the bottom of the post as the visitors could have nicked three points. Not really, it was actually 5 each side, I've edited it. It wasn't really a bad game like that. Tractor Boy
