With the Ashes in control the referee awarded a soft free-kick to the home side on the stroke of half time. The ball was swung into the Ashes penalty box and Dan Kovacs pounced to give the home side a 1-0 half time lead.

The Ashes could not match their first half commitment in the second half and Josh Ferguson lashed home the second for the home side when the Ashes failed to clear their area.

The Ashes pushed more men in to attack but with 10 minutes to go the game was over for the Ashes when Ryan Rickard made an error and Ricky Hulbert took advantage and rolled the ball towards goal. The ball was going wide  but Francois Allen got to it and beat two defenders before he chipped the ball in to make it 3-0 to the home side.
