100%cornish
I dont think Wayne Rooneys goal scoring record should stand because severel of his goals where Penalties and im pretty sure Bobby Charltons where just goals not penalties so I think Bobbys record should still stand
ECPL
Hello !!!!!!!!!! When the ball crosses the line it is a goal. What Charlton did was fantastic but don 't forget Rooney has played , midfield , on the wing and has to accept a disciplined role at times. So lets celebrate his achievements for what they are . ECPL
Unfortunately there is always a danger in comparing players from different eras. Just accept that each were good in their time
100%cornish
My Point was that Bobby Charlton scored his goals without penalties and also Bobby Charlton is worth 10 Wayne ROONEYS he never had a scandal written about him
ECPL
That is precisely my point. Don't compare different eras The world is a different place than it was in Bobby Charlton's time Just be thankful they are both great players in their time. Mike Odgers
Without question in my eyes Jimmy Greaves 44 goals from 57 games the best goal ratioWayne Rooney 50 goals from 107 games--Boby Charlton 49 goals from 106 gamesGreavsie fell out of favour with Sir Alf Ramsey he didn't help himself by singing from the back of the team coach "Whats it all about Alfie"Spare a thought for Jake Gosling who scored recently for Gibraltar and his now his nations all time International goalscorer with 2 (two)
Guest
No doubt Rooney's done a good job for his country. Hard to compare eras. Hope he bangs us to victory in the finals!
