cornishteddyboy
Spoke to John Mead on this subject this morning and he hasn't heard anything so we reckon it is this coming Thursday but don't quote us on it. Why are you worried Bundi, Portreath are not handing in their notice to quit are they, as it has to be done by the end of the year?
Guest Bundiwilliams
no not quiting dont be silly, we are slowly growing not quick but steadily!!!!!! lol just didnt want to lose another £10 those guys earn enough!!!!!
cornishteddyboy
Two back to back wins for Portreath would take you out of the relegation zone and drop Wendron and Ludgvan in it. Mind you if there is relegation from the Combo this season it would be sad to see wendron lose their SWPL place then perhaps being relegated from the combo. We need a Combo Premier Division of perhaps 16 teams and a Div 1 of 16 teams. We could then have a Premier Div Cup, Div 1 Cup and a League Cup. Top 6 from each of the Mining and Fal/Hels to join when they amalgamate, unless they are a reserve team of a team already in the league then we go down the leagues to fill the spaces. 2 up, 2 down between each division with 2 up 2 down with the new super league. Richard Chown
The current Combo rules state to gain promotion to the league you have to either finish in the top three of FHFL or Mining League. When the merger takes place will the rules change to a top six place in the top division of the new league?
cornishteddyboy
What's wrong with my idea? Premier League made up of top 16 teams from the combo Penryn Athletic Helston Athletic Illogan RBL St Agnes Penzance Falmouth Town Perranwell Newquay St Day RNAS Culdrose Troon St Just St Ives Town Porthleven Mullion Hayle Div 1 made up of the bottom 4 from the combo and top six none reserve teams from each league. Holman Sports Club Ludgvan Wendron United Portreath Robarts Arms Goonhavern Halstown Four Lanes Gwinear Threemilestone Falmouth Albion Pendeen Rovers Mousehole Constantine Chacewater St Keverne Obviously some minor work needed at some grounds to make Div 1 standard. Richard Chown
But how many of those clubs would meet the Combination Laegue Ground Critrea?
St Darren
out of that list! 7 of them would meet the criteria
cornishteddyboy
Div 1 would have a more basic criteria such as changing rooms, hot showers, some parking, fenced or roped off ground. Once in the league if they don't have dugouts, they have a couple of years to build them, etc.
Guest Postie Pidge
I know at least one that was too narrow to build dug outs!
cornishteddyboy
Build then into the surrounding hedge. There are ways around things.

Great idea - I would fully support this. The ground criteria for entry to Div 1 could be relaxed, with the clubs having a certain period of time to upgrade and/or not allowed promotion to the premier division. YoungPercy
It does sound like a great idea CTB, not sure if it would improve the standard though
skippy
It does sound like a great idea CTB, not sure if it would improve the standard though What is needed to improve the standard is continual promotion and relegation in and out of the league. Due to the creation and subsequent expansion of the SWP there has been a number of Combo clubs promoted however no relegation. The lack of relegation partly explains why the bottom few clubs have a large negative goal difference, noticeably more than the leagues above and below. The SWP is here to stay and the recently promoted clubs are unlikely to return to the Combination anytime soon, so let's change with the times. Keeping the top 16 together would create a strong premier division, with the bottom 4 mixed in with the best of Mining 1 and Fal/Hel 1 would be a reasonable Div 1. Might avoid the inevitable fixture backlog in May too.
