Richard Chown
Who proposed making the Combination league smaller? Surely people should be encourging expansion to improve the quality of football in Cornwall!
Mandy K Aggiemaid
Combination League side to be managed by Neil Curnow and Martyn Kimmins. I think the proposal for reducing the size of the League was to allow for less matches which would make the season to be shorter. I think the reasoning was to help stop players from higher level teams who finish their seasons earlier signing for Combination teams at the end of the season and playing in the last few seasonal fixtures. There was also a proposal of shortening the 'signing on' period for the same reason - this would need to be done by a rule change received in writing a seconded before the next league AGM so was not carried at this stage either. skippy
Who proposed making the Combination league smaller? Surely people should be encourging expansion to improve the quality of football in Cornwall! Improvement in quality requires relegation to occur regularly - something lacking from the Combination league in recent seasons. If the Fal/Hel and Mining leagues amalgamate then this could be the one opportunity to expand the Combo to 32 teams, similar to the ECPL setup. The top 6 from FH1 + top 6 from Mining 1 + bottom 4 from Combo make up the Combo Div 1. The top 16 Combo clubs form the Combo Premier. Any thoughts on this idea? Mike Odgers
No surprise there-easily the the most progressive Cornish 'Ref' I saw last season. Can someone remind me what standard of football George will be officiating at level 4 next season?
cornishteddyboy
Back to the earlier question. Teams got fined for not having a registered linesperson (£2 each match), incorrect team sheets (£10), late team sheets (£10) and not appearing at committee meetings. All the fines were minor (all under £20 for most clubs).
