Cornwall FA was established on 18th September 1889 and on the 18th September 2014 we are opening our doors in Bodmin to all our volunteers, whether you are a player, club official, manager coach or referee we would like to meet you. Come along either between 2pm -4pm or 6pm 8pm and have a chat with our members of staff to find out more about what we as a County offer our customers. Get in depth information on how what we do affects you directly and the get an insight into the fantastic opportunities open to all our volunteers through our various initiatives, our friendly staff will be on hand to answer all your questions. Chief Executive Dawn Aberdeen is very keen to see as many people as possible through doors on our 125th birthday and will be on hand to talk to the clubs about a range of subjects "We are very proud of the strong relationships we have with our volunteers, we are always looking to engage with those involved with grassroots football, and this is a great opportunity for people to find out more about the many different aspects of Cornwall FA and the work we do. Feedback is vital to our progress and we are receptive to new ideas so hopefully people can come and talk to us about what else they would like from us and what support they require" Joining Dawn will be members of the governance team who will be able to answer questions on respect, discipline, welfare, County Cups, affiliations, sponsorship, marketing, rules and regulations and new initiatives such as the Inclusion and Advisory Group. The Cornwall FA development team led by Andy Mitchell will be highlighting the excellent work going on in the County and the efforts they are making in working with volunteers to improve participation and standards throughout the County. So for more information on Coach Education and all the local, regional and national courses that are on offer, the In-Service Events and our Licensed Coaches Club come and see Grace Dent. Phil Cardew will be on hand to talk about Charter Standard and its benefits to our member clubs and Warren Parker will be there to give all the latest information on the growth of Women and Girls football and the fantastic work going on with disability football in Cornwall. Dave Deacon
Not long back from visiting the County FA HQ and well worth the trip. Interesting to hear from Phil Cardew with how the Under-19 initiative is going; good to talk to Ray Brown on the Refereeing side of things with assessing, marking and appointments for the county finals; and Paul Murphy - wow, I don't envy his job one little bit trying to sort out all the referees and assistants appointments. He's put together an Impressive spreadsheet programme database software himself to assist him, but still a lot if information he has to carry in his head. Also on show was coaching information, Respect literature, silverware and some interesting team photos of County squads from late 1950 onwards with plenty of other personnel to discuss your interests with. Wouldn't do anyone any harm to try and find the time to pop along this evening. Well done CCFA.
