  1. Have to say I think they would have done very well playing in todays combo league
  2. Nigel,,, I do believe Truro Hendra were in the Mining League before joining the Falmouth- Helston. I seem to remember playing them, ( you were prob still in nappies ) lol ,,, Damn, Truro Boys Club,,, must of played against em half a dozen times for Camborne Plough,,, NEVER beat them ,,,,,I can only remember two of there players, Ray Smith who played center back and his brother Bernie played center forward, I could only recognize Bernie from his back,,, as he ran past me ,,lol,,,
  3. Yes Mike , your quite right, I can remember changing in the Pig slaughterhouse , looking back the years, i seem to remember most junior teams didn't have anywhere to change, Many a game trying to clean the mud off in a farmers hedge, or 4 or 5 players trying to do the same out of the boot of a car ,, good happy days,, discussing who we were playing next week, then we could do it all over again,,, lol
  4. Yes Nigel, you are quite right, there was an old chicken house used for changing at Barripper,,, I should know,,, I helpt to erect it !!!. Don't know what the problem is,, the chickens were quite happy without a floor ! lol,,,
  5. Barripper used to play at the village playing field, outside of the boundary of the cricket club,,, The field itself was left to the village for recreation only, so is still there !
  6. Camborne Athletic first started playing at Crane Rd,,, before the new Junior school was built,,, I first signed on as an under eighteen,,,, I'm well into my sixties now lol,,,
  7. With heavy rain forecast again, I fear any games that have a chance of playing at the moment, may well be doubtful by Saturday midday. I think there may well be a lot of phone calls made by club secs / managers In the morning.
  8. Alex Ferguson. Thanks older,,, I spoose North of the border still counts !!
  9. Just as a matter of interest, who would have been the First "foreigner " to manage/coach an English 1st division / Premier club??
  10. Don't forget the hand me down black plimsoles for "boots",,,
  11. And some of the "kit" we had to wear !!!!!! I can remember having to get someone to "drag" a soaking wet shirt off, while still wearing it !!
  12. Never used to "watch the lace",,,, always close your eyes and clench yer teeth ,,,,,,,
  13. Go back to playing with a " PROPER LEATHER BALL ",,,,, It will suck up all the water off the pitch ,,,, before knocking your head off !!
  14. Maybe this section should be renamed for us "grumpy old men",,,lol,,,yes I am over 60 !!,,, When the TV pundits come on, its time to put the kettle on !! All I hear is the keeper should have saved that,, the forward should have scored,, the rest of the team should have been somewhere other than where they were !! Of coarse,,, all these ex players, never ever made a mistake !! While im having a moan, is there an epidemic of sickness in players on the pitch, where is seems the norm that they all have the urge to have to clear the contents of throats !!! Ill say no more, matron is here with my cocoa !!
