A Question of Sport ?

Recommended Posts

Much media interest has been made in the controversy that V.A.R. has caused in the Spurs Liverpool game.

Liverpool are said to be looking in to their options regarding the game one of which is asking for the game to be replayed.

Can we therefore assume that Liverpool or any other team has played and been incorrectly awarded a goal want those games to be replayed as well.

It appears that V.A.R. should be abandoned and we should revert to and accept any mistakes that a referee makes, surely that would be the catalyst for even more diverse opinions from opinionated experts who believe they are are correct in every aspect of the game.

There is no doubt that Liverpool were denied a goal that should have been awarded, but they need to move on and remember some of the decisions that went their way.

F.A. cup games have been shown on T.V at grounds.where V.A.R. doesn't exist but T.V. cameras have shown a referees decision to be wrong, are these games to be replayed, and is the lack of V.A.R. in the lower reaches unfair?

The Liverpool goal wasn’t about a decision that didn’t go their way. The var confirmed the goal but failed to award it!

it’s a completely different situation than anything there has been before.

Contradicted yourself there St Darren, the goal was confirmed but the decision didn't go their way and Liverpool quite understandedly felt annoyed.
What most people don't understand is Klopp saying that the game should be replayed.
Is he suggesting that a wrong decision by referees in many cup games where VAR is not available should also be replayed ? because isolating one decision that affected one game would be totally unfair if that was dealt with in isolation.
VAR identifies any mistakes a referee or player makes, and players dislike of the system is because they consider it to be too clinical ( where an elbow is deemed offside ) and removes the undoubted fact that over a season things are evened out.
Move on Mr Klopp, your suggestion does neither yourself or your team any favours.

Goals that have been disallowed have been so because the officials agreed that an offence took place. We could argue about those decisions all day.

in this instance the officials confirmed that the goal was onside but failed to award the goal!

Klopp said that there should be a replay but he also said he knows that won’t happen.
