Josh Robins Leaves Tavistock

Recommended Posts

Reported on Tavi website that Josh Robins has decided to leave the club, juggling step 4 football (specifically the travelling) with his work and family commitments is proving too much. He does say as well that no longer being a regular in the side, and wanting more playing time, is also a factor.

One of the best left backs around the local scene over the last decade, and an integral part of their successes over the last few seasons under Stuart Henderson as they progressed through the leagues. First remember him catching the eye back in the 2013/14 season against Parkway for Tavistock (myself and The Bald One were impressed when this very young looking and very small figure beat Adam Carter in an aerial challenge), his dynamic play and strong challenges on the left hand side  made him stand out immediately.

At 29,still has a lot good football in him, and expect he wont be without offers from the various step 5 and 6 clubs in the area.

Always a shame to see “one of our own” go.

Far too good to be a bit part player and don’t blame him for moving on to find regular football.

Believe he’s had a few offers already and look forward to seeing him play wherever he goes when Tavistock aren’t playing.

Arguably one of the best left backs around at Peninsula and Western League level for the last 7/8 seasons.

Loved a challenge, not always a clean/fair challenge, but liked one all the same.

Admire his dedication to Tavistock, stuck by them when they went into the East Peninsula when many clubs tried to sign him from above.

Be shocked if he didn't end up at Helston. Money plus competitive league = winner.

Not many local faces making their way into the first team now at Tavistock . He must be the last of them . Looks like Henderson going down the parkway route and bringing in argyle , Exeter players on loan . Not sure how that will go down with the tavi  fans. Especially when there already an issue if getting the locals to come and support the club.

Callum Watson now also left Tavy and signed full time for Saltash.

Callum Watson is another that has been superb at Tavi, but it doesn't look like he is a regular in their starting line up any longer.

I guess there was going to be a period of significant transition eventually at Tavi. They have won titles and progressed through the leagues over the last 7 years or so with the same nucleus of players, and only a few additions to this group every season. Some of the names that have been with them since the Peninsula League days are getting older now, and have possibly reached their ceiling. Understand that similar things are happening at Exmouth Town up the road, manager Kevin Hill has talked about being loyal to the group of players that have been with him for a while and achieved multiple promotions, but may have to think about making changes to their squad.
