Newquay V Elburton Villa AFC - 26th Feb Throgmorton Cup 1/4 19.30 PM KO final

Recommended Posts

Can see this going to Extra-Time, Villa were lucky to win with a last kick of the game in the SWPL clash earlier this season. Villa are the only SWPL side to have beaten Bodmin this season. Newquay will have to put in a strong performance to make it two Semi-Finals this season. Set the Sky Box to record for the Oldham game and get down to Mount Wise Stadium for some real live football... and wrap up warm !

Yes 3-1 to Villa. One very iffy Penalty that was then saved but followed in. One linesman with an over active flag arm and Kevin Knowles was 'entertaining' as Refs go. Newquay will not be too disappointed, 4 players out cup-tied, those that came in did well, a rare appearance from Hammy and a healthy crowd of 109 on a very cold night with Everton v Oldham on TV.

3 away fans, a couple of SWPL officials and a visitor from Buckland, not the best of games but Newquay came through with limited injuries and just one booking.

Throgmorton Cup - Quarter Final

Newquay 1 v 3 Elburton Villa

Villa scorers: Sam Stevens, Jordan Trott & Ray Spear

With only 10 regular players available of the 12 that travelled to Mount Wise, much credit is due to a great 'team performance'.

Thank you to Newquay for their hospitality and to the supporters for attending the match.

Looking forward to being 'in the hat' for the semi-final draw.

Could your Manager be up for Top Manager of the season ? It was only a few seasons ago you should have been relegated.

Great effort. Well done .
