HOW MANY GET PROMOTED IN THIS LEAGUE???

Recommended Posts

That's the way it goes sometimes when you're in the middle territory of the league's geography!

Gloucester play in the Conference NORTH whereas Worcester located further north play in Conference SOUTH. When Gloucester play away most times they pass by Worcester on the way, the result of league placement promises to Worcester by the league management in previous years.

I fail to understand why Gloucester cannot CLAIM for increased travel costs, I think they have a case.

Worcester City were regular members of the Conference (North) until last season (08/09) when the F.A restructured them to play in the Conference (South) because of geographical reasons.

Although it would of made sense for Worcester to go North and Gloucester to play in the South.

There is a ruling that a club cannot be forced to move for a second consecutive season to another league-hence promoted Gloucester City(who are more South than Worcester) went into the Conf.North and Worcester had every right to stay in the Conf.South.

The Southern League Champions get automatic promotion

In the one off play offs,

2nd place have Home advantage against 5th.spot and 3rd.place have Home advantage over 4th.

Then there is Home advantage in the play off Final to the highest placed league position of the two remaining teams.

Mountaineer -- Where have you heard that before? Why, it's the motto of the great state of Missouri!

Anyway, so are there examples of teams who played, say, North one year, were relegated, bounced back up, and went into the South? Or vice versa? Is this actually a fairly common happening?

Having to finish first doesn't leave much margin for error, but finishing in a playoff spot seems reachable -- and would be a kind of excitement we haven't had in a while! (still prefer winning it outright!)
