  1. Heard good things about young Luke Damerell. Surprised St Dennis have been able to get him with their limited budget.
  2. Just seen Mojoe at Blackies garage down St Stephen, he was wearing a St Dennis tracksuit! Rumour has it he’s returning to St Steve’s though!
  3. Are there really 50-100 people who want to watch the Div 4 cup final? If, as you say above, you’ve dealt out “a fair few hammerings” when you were known as Carharrack then surely the cup final for the lowest Saturday league in Cornwall shouldn’t be that big of a deal for you all 👀
  4. I popped up to the Rec today to see if St Stephen could limp over the line following a vastly underwhelming and fortuitous season. It took the hosts around 20 minutes to get to grips with Stickers superb interplay and neat passing. In this time they conceded and were on the back foot. Once they realised they couldn't match the passing ability of the youthful Sticker side they reverted back to the long ball and trying to rough up the opposition. Their questionable tactics paid off and they ran out 3-1 winners despite conceding the majority of possession and the Sticker side passing them off the park. The table doesn't lie so clearly St Stephen have the know how to win games but I can't help but feel the likes of Veryan, St Mawgan, Torpoint and perhaps even Sticker deserved the title more based on the quality of football they play. 64
  5. Not in my nature to be the antagonist Starman, just repeating what I heard! I have just seen that the semi final is now scheduled for this Saturday at Godolphin after the Newquay debacle last week!
  6. I've just heard straight from a source that the final is being moved from St Agnes to St Day for some reason. Looks like @StarMan42 might not be as clued up as he thinks! Bit far for Torpoint to (potentially) travel though isn't it?
  7. Made the trip down west to watch the village side once again take their place in the final. St Stephen started brightly with the outstanding Craig Coad hitting the bar with a left footed half volley. That was as good as it got for the saints in the 1st half as Wendrone took control of the game and deservedly went into the break 1-0 up. A half time change saw Kyle "kick him" Willymot off and his brother Jordi Willymot on. This swung the game in the Saints favour and their hard work saw the enigmatic Craig Coad felled in the area and a penalty controversially awarded. Courtney Rowe duly despatched with aplomb. The allotted 5400 seconds (or 90 minutes for the traditionalist) ended 1-1 and the tie went into extra time finely poised. The deadlock was soon broken though when Luke Damerell took time out of his busy soup kitchen duties to rise highest and head home a corner (sorry @coady-9 you can't claim this one) Finally the game was killed off after an adventurous run from the more talented Willymot brother brought about a second penalty after his ball into the box was destined for Courtney Rowe's laces if it weren't for the desperate lunge from the Wendrone defender. Rowe dusted himself off and duly slotted the penalty into the corner to cement the saint's place in their 3rd consecutive final and clay village folklore. Great game to watch between two very good sides. Wendrone are a lovely bunch of lads (bar the aggressive wizard at the back) although they were let down by some distasteful comments from some supporters. We wish them all the best in their remaining league fixtures. Onto the final on the 22nd. Let's hope St Agnes have some Kronenbourg 1664 on tap! 64
  8. Made my way to The Rec in the hope of seeing Biscovey take down another of the so called 'top teams' in the Duchy league. Looks like they caught the attention of St Stephen after last week's result as the home side even came out for a brief warm up despite the weather. Either the Saints had a good day or St Mawgan were poor last week as this Biscovey team rarely troubled the home side who ran out 7-0 winners. Think the scorers were Craig Coad x3, Courtney Rowe x2, Jack Spingo(?) and an unfortunate OG. It'll be interesting to see how St Stephen cope with an organised and strong Wendrone side on Tuesday night. 64
  9. Think you're being a little sensitive here Mr Norman. At no point did I say it would be a bad thing if you brought ringers in as you're entitled to play a few anyway! However, in my opinion, Penwith Excels will be too strong for your side. A few 1st team players would certainly help though.
  10. I think the Excels will be too physical for Torpoint 3rd team. Depends how many/which ringers they pull in though! Presumably to check there’s still floodlights at Newquay and that Hayle haven’t sent a scout to pinch the bulbs.
  11. Having seen Mr Coad play on a few occasions this season I was under the impression he was a changed man... Am I wrong?
  12. Gotta be a late surge from St Dennis 2s. The Rickards will no doubt help out and ensure a bit of silverware for the club. Agree that St Stephen are looking like a club in decline based on recent performances. Not the side they once were.
