City striker forced to stop playing

Truro City have been dealt a blow ahead of Tuesday's FA Vase final rematch against AFC Totton with the news that striker Ian Stonebridge may have played his last game for the club.

The former Plymouth Argyle striker, who scored in Saturday's 3-1 BGB Southern League Division One South and West win at Bracknell Town, has been attempting a comeback with City after having to retire from the professional game with a persistent joint problem last year.

But now he has been advised to stop playing by his advisers as he has to deal with another insurance issue.

And it is unclear whether Stonebridge will return to playing for City, for whom he has made just five starts scoring four goals.

It leaves City short of strikers and boss Sean McCarthy said he would looking to sign a replacement, though admitted it had been difficult to attract players because of the travelling involved.

For the Totton game, Shane Tolley, who scored in City's reserve side's superb 3-1 Senior Cup win at Bodmin Town, is likely to return to the squad.

Andy Taylor, who has been out with a hamstring strain, could return but skipper Matt Hockley is unlikely to figure following the death of his father.

McCarthy said: "It is going to be another difficult game and Totton are obviously a good side. But every game is tough in this league."

The match kicks off at 7.45pm.

Not good news.Is he not playing because of the injury,or because of legal reasons with the Insurance.?

To be honest he has only featured in lesser games really.

Main strikers are Yetton and Watkins.

But if any of those two get injured, thats trouble.

Intresting quote from McCarthy saying he is having problems getting players to sign because of the

travelling.

This has never been a problem before.

Somersetspur: Travelling has been a problem before KEVIN WILLS was a great loss plus moving up a league made many not consider venturing into the Duchy.

It is a shame about Ian Stonebridge, his past problems have killed off any further football league ambitions, with City he has dropped a number of levels in footballing standard, his experience shines through but he appears to be permanently carrying the burden that ended his Wycombe career, although doing well.

Shane Tolley will be an adequate replacement.
