Porthleven 2 v 1 Helston

0 - 1 25 mins - Pullen

1 - 1 35 mins Robertson

2 - 1 37 mins Robertson

Port also had penalty saved in 90th minute.

Not a brilliant game and a draw was possibly a fairer result.

Truro City Reserves 6-1 Falmouth Town Reserves

Played on the banana pitch at Wendron. Well reffed by Colin Spence. Truro lef 5-1 at the break in a game where both teams only had one sub. Falmouth's only sub came on with about 20 minutes left as Postie Pidge made a rare cameo at senior level.

Newquay 3 - 1 Perranwell

Newquay started slowly but were very much up for the game against second placed Perranwell. The opening twenty minutes were scrappy with chances few and far between, Luke Whelden had the best chance to open the scoring after great work from Ash Bradshaw on the wing, his effort hit the side netting. Perranwell enjoyed a reasonable amount of possession and had a number of corner kicks that come to nothing. The opening goal came from James Pennington, who flicked Adam Weller's long ball over the defender, allowed it to bounce and hit a volley across the goalkeeper and into the far corner for his seventh goal of the season. Perranwell hit back only a few minutes before half-time, with the Newquay defence not clearing the ball, their striker was able to round the stranded goalkeeper with some great footwork to equalise.

The second half remained tight until Scott Palmer picked up the ball on the left wing, brushed his marker aside and cut into the area, he turned the last defender and tucked the ball away into the bottom corner for his 21st goal in 19 starts. Against a team like Perranwell, a one goal lead never seemed enough and Ash Bradshaw was on hand to work his way out of a crowd of players to curl a fantastic left footed strike into the far corner from 20 yards. Jon Blundell came on for the last few minutes and made an outstanding run, only to miss the target when it appeared he was going to score an exceptional goal.

Another very good win for Newquay who have continued to progress under the leadership of Vic Osborne, the team hasn't particularly changed, but the team spirit and cohesiveness in the squad is exceptional.

St Agnes, Penryn and Newquay are all within a point moving into the last game of the season, it could prove interesting as St Agnes and Penryn have to play Helston, Newquay sign off with a home game against Falmouth on Tuesday evening - their fourth meeting this season.

Congratulations to Perranwell for a very successful season, we are all very much looking forward to playing in the Combination League next season.

Attendance - approx 50 on a sunny afternoon at Mount Wise! (quote Jollyman)

What was really amusing was the fact that Chris reski had to run the line for the last 20 mins and sir Trevor Mewton climbing all over the hedges at Wendron retrieving the match balls. :D

Rather Bizzare.
