Stithians 3-3 Newlyn

Alex Hennessy

Howard Vague pen

James Martin

Good game end to end stuff Newlyn took lead after a free kick delivered to the back stick headed in.  We equalised with a free kick of our own fell to the edge of box for Alex Hennessy. Both teams created chances with  chances  but 1-1 HT.

Straight after the break we failed to clear out lines and Newlyn made it 2-1. We went after an equaliser but Newlyn defended well and keeper making some saves from Treve Bale. Finally we got our equaliser when Bale was fouled in the box and Howard Vague stepped up to equalise. 2-2 game became stretched both teams going for it and Newlyn retook the lead when Howard Vague cross field pass hit James Martin on the head fell into the Newlyn player who Lobbed Bray from edge of box. We had 15 minutes to get an equaliser and with 10 to go it comes when James Martin finished from edge of box  3-3. Both teams sent searching for a winner and Newlyn got the chance when Howard Vague fouled the Newlyn Centre mid in the box. Newlyns number 14 stepped up bottom right corner but Bray got down for the save. Both teams still looking for goal and Newlyn had another good chance and bray saved down to his right.

Good game, great bunch of boys down Newlyn to draws between us both games. Good luck rest of the season.

Big game for us next week away to Biscovey in JC Cup quarter finals 👊

Storm 3-4 Troon

A big win for the lads which continues our recent run of good form. Playing with the wind behind us first half both teams had chances to score but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping meant we went in at half time 1-0 up courtesy of a Reegan Harris goal against his former club.

Storm came out 2nd half looking determined and with the wind behind them took full advantage and got into a 3-1 lead deservedly and were playing some good football. A couple of substitutions and a change of formation seemed to get us stepping up a gear and we pulled 2 goals back to make it 3-3 and Storm looked nervous. We then got a free kick and it was slotted away to make it 4-3 to us and a big 3 points against a Storm team who have been much improved this season. Thanks for the food back at the pub. We play Storm again in the reverse fixture this Saturday.

Match Report-

St Erme 6-0 St Keverne 🏆

The saints started the week with 16 players available but with Goalkeeper Dan M and Skipper Kyle S missing out due to injury we ended up with 14 available so it meant that back up keeper Aidan F got a start, Also Alan D came in for the missing Max S.

The saints started the game strong and took the lead within 10 mins when Brandon M was fouled and Cain T whipped it in the free kick and it made its way into the net.

Not long after the saints made it 2 when Brandon M was fouled near the corner flag Sol M stepped up whipped a great ball in and skipper Craig S headed home.

The saints were dominating and made it 3 when Aidans long kick found Brandon M down the wing who whipped it across goal for Freddie M who was there to calmly slot home.

The saints capped off a good half after they got their 4th when Thierry M darted into the box and was pulled down by the St Keverne skipper and the ref quickly pointed to the spot, Brandon M stepped up and stuck it into the back of the net ,

The  Saints went  in with a comfortable cushion at the break,  St erme made some half time changes to make full use of the squad as Thierry M made way for Max P and Jared W made way for Adam
H, The saints continued their goal scoring form when they got a 5th as Brandon M slotted home after a defensive error, Brandon M then made way for Thierry M to come back on, Also Sam R made way for Leverton T to make his adults football debut.

St keverne created a few chances in the second half but the saints were determined to get their first clean sheet of the season and defended well as a team and Aidan was there to make some good saves when needed.

Brandon M returned to the field replacing Freddie M and soon got his hattrick when the saints were awarded another penalty when Max P was brought down and Brandon M slotted home to make it 6 and that’s was about all in the game as it ended 6-0 to the saints to continue their great run of form.

MOTM today was Aidan F who stepped in for the injured Dan M in goal and gave the saints their first clean sheet of the season making some good saves notably the great double save at the start of the second half.

Few notable mentions go out to Brandon M for his hattrick, The whole back line and sol M  for helping us get our first clean sheet of the season.

A great team performance once again and will look to continue that when we travel to wendron next week.

All the best to St Keverne F.C for the remainder of the season.
