Ball bags
☀️🧡⚽️ Falmouth united 3 v 3 Stitians First game of 2024 on a perfect day for some football. The game started well for us a decent tempo and moving the ball well. About 15 mins in a excellent ball from Reuben Talbot found hayden to glide past 2 defenders so smash in far the corner. The lead was short lived after a mistake led to an equaliser. We created a few chances First half but nothing found the net. Half time I was a little annoyed at the lack of desire and tempo after conceding. The second half we started again well creating chances but poor decision making in the final third slowed our progress. Reuben again found wide man reece toms to score from a tight angle. But again that lead was short lived. After ball watching and not reacting quick enough thier winger had time to hit a rocket in to the top corner from range. We did retake the lead 10 mins later after good work from midfield found reece toms who gave me the ball just outside the box to put just inside of the post. But shortly after a mix up at the back the ball ended up falling to a Stithians man for a tap in. We had a few chances late on to win the game but didn't take them. Frustrated to drop points today but we move on. Having to change most of my back line due to injuries and eventually having to play a number of lads out of position we just couldn't get out of third gear today. The lads really need to up their game next week and with the junior cup around the corner we need to get back on track. Man of the match was reece toms. Played about 4 positions today, scored a fine goal and assist. 30 plus spectators Hdog, James_Wright and Dave Deacon 2
Brandon Mcdonnell
Match report 🏆 St Erme 3-1 Culdrose Reserves The saints hosted Culdrose and were looking to carry on how they left off in 2023 , the saints knew it was going to be a tough game with the conditions playing a massive part for both sides. The lineup was almost identical to the last game against Probus with the only change being Alan D coming in for the absent Max S The saints made a dominant start and had a few early chances but were unable to take them. The saints found out they were going to struggle playing good football with the pitch being boggy. The saints did eventually take one of their chances when Freddie M played a pass to across the middle to Sam R who calmly slotted into the bottom left hand corner. The saints then let Culdrose back into the game and they took control of possession for the next 10 minutes and eventually got the equaliser they deserved when a ball was switched over to their skipper and with the saints backline switching off as they waiting for the offside flag to go up which allowed the skipper to get a shot off which Dan M saved but the rebound was put in the back of the net. The game was then quite even and neither team creating many clear cut chances and the half times whistle went with the teams going into to half time break level at 1-1. The saints came out after the break and gained the foothold back in the game and they took the lead again after a great solo run from Sam R beating a few players and having the composure to finish low in the bottom right corner. The saints gave themselves a 2 goal advantage not long after when Jake B was fouled on the left hand side, Brandon M took the free kick and whipped a great ball in which found Thierry M who was there with a controlled side foot volley to beat keeper to give the saints some breathing space. Culdrose created a few chances and did find the back of net but was ruled by the linesman’s flag. Culdrose were then reduced to 10 men after their skipper was sinbinned and made it easier for saints to see out the game for the three points and continue their good run of form. We will now look forward to hosting Lanner Football Club in a fortnights time and we will be out for revenge after losing in the away fixture 2-1. Today’s MOTM for the saints was Jared W after a great performance at left back, also a special mention to Sam R who scored 2 from Central midfield in only his second game for the saints. Many Thanks to Yesterdays MatchDay sponsor Sophie’s Den for the continued support. Dave Deacon
