Lizard 1-7 Penryn (Roberts, L.Dent x2, Pellow, Snape X3)

A horrible day for football down at Lizard, with gale force winds & torrential rain meaning only 1 fan braved the elements to watch the game, & with no dugouts, as Penryn gaffer, I wished I hadn't bothered myself.

Penryn played with the wind in the 1st half & dominated from the off, the lively front 3 of Steve Brewer, Jason Roberts & Liam Dent looked dangerous every time we attacked. After a few missed chances Penryn took the lead on 10 mins when  Roberts lashed into the bottom corner to cap off a great team move. 2 minutes later Liam Dent brilliantly curled 1 into the top corner from 18 yards for 2-0 after great work down the right from Roberts. It was basically attack Vs defence & Penryn made it 3-0 on 25 mins when Lewis Pellow was quickest to react in the box & got his reward for being brave as he challenged the keeper to poke home from 5 yards. Dent made it 4-0 before half time after some superb stuff down the left from Steve Brewer who was brilliant all afternoon.

Wth the wind in our faces Penryn wondered if 4 was enough & if we would regret all of our missed chances. Lizard came out fast & had a few half chances themselves but poor finishing & good defending kept them out. Ryn made it 5-0 after 55 mins when substitute Joel Snape slotted home after more great work from Roberts down the right. Snape grabbed a second goal shortly after beating the offside trap & hitting the ball in to the roof of the net. Dent & Snape then both missed chances to grab their hat trick, but it was Snape who eventually scored his 3rd & Penryns 7th when he got on the end of another great piece of play from Roberts. The last 10 minutes consisted of both sets of players begging the ref to blow up early as conditions worsened, Lizard got the goal their hard work deserved with the last kick of the game when they scored direct from a free kick on the touchline, near the half way line as the centre half & goalkeeper struggled to read the ball in the wind. The ref immediately blew for full time & both sets of players sprinted to the changing rooms 😂😂😂. 

Nice to get that long trip out of the way, Lizard can be the nicest away trip in the summer but on a day like yesterday I think Baghdad United away seems more appealing 😂.

Mom - Jason Roberts, a goal & 4 assists,the winger was unplayable & a constant threat. 

Cheers to lizard, put on a lovely chilli con carne & garlic bread for the players & a couple free pints for mom & donkey of the day. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
