Gary Hocking
Unfortunately Liskeard vs Argyle U23s has also been postponed but there’s still one massive game in the east if you don’t mind crossing the border - Argyle’s 1st team play Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup 5th round - 1pm at Home Park. Argyle Ladies spent the afternoon chasing shadows in what was an emphatic 6-0 win for Charlton. If it wasn’t for a superb display from the Argyle keeper, then this would have been 12. Charlton are in the division above Argyle and it certainly showed. They are essentially a passing side and in the first half I counted 15 passing moves on 4 occasions. At half time it was 0-0, this was in the main down to some heroic defending and excellent goalkeeping from Plymouth. I daren’t think what the first half possession stats were such was Charlton’s dominance. In the 2nd half Charlton went more direct, getting the ball forward quicker and with more width. Once the first went in it was game over, Argyle were never going to pull it back. Tiredness and a few heads dropping helped contribute to the other Charlton goals. A nice day for watching football with a healthy crowd there, guessing at about 400. Marcus Grose, Gary Hocking and We Two 2
AmberArmy
CULDROSE LADIES 3 - 0 BODMIN WOMEN Culdrose moved to the top of CWFL Division 2 with victory over a resilient Bodmin side who perhaps gave the hosts a tougher game than they expected. It was level pegging for most of the first half, and the visitors would’ve gone in at the break delighted, only for Culdrose to beat the flag on the break to slot home with 5 minutes to go before halftime. 1-0 soon became 2-0 after the restart, with the Bodmin keeper trying to play it out with her feet, but only finding a Culdrose player from her ball out, and who duly slotted home with the keeper stranded. Game over perhaps … but it still remained a highly competitive affair, with some tough challenges going in from both sides. A 3rd wrapped the game up midway through the second half, as tiring Bodmin defenders failed to recover after a good save from their keeper. But both teams certainly knew they’d been in a game come the final whistle, and the sides will do it all again in a few weeks in the return fixture on what is likely to be a better footballing surface at Priory Park All in all great advert for the CWFL Culdrose Scorers: Faulkner, Shipp & Ellis Ref: Stuart McVey Marcus Grose, We Two, Gary Hocking and 1 other
