AmberArmy
DROPSHIP LADIES 1 - 2 BODMIN WOMEN Bodmin made their first trip down to Nancegollan for a later 2.30pm kickoff. But things started later still, with no sign of the appointed referee meaning a last minute call by the hosts to bring in a replacement. Fortunately they came up trumps, albeit it meant closer to 3.00pm before things finally got underway. Bodmin travelled missing a number of their younger players who’d impressed at Charlestown last weekend due to injuries. But it gave opportunity for yet 2 more girls who’d come through the ranks of the Bodmin Youth FC Girls pathway to come in to todays squad. Not the greatest of surfaces made the desired passing game tricky, but a terrific first half effort from Kaz Marsden gave the visitors a deserved 1-0 lead at the break, when on another day it could have been more. The second half saw more missed opportunities before the second goal finally came to give some breathing space, this one for youngster & Bodmin’s current top scorer, 16 year old Gracie Davies. Things were made slightly tense for the final few minutes, after a late penalty to Dropship halved the deficit. But 3 points for the visitors sees them go clear in 3rd place in Division 2 with a tough trip to 2nd place Culdrose next week.
