Dave Deacon
Cornwall 3, Norfolk 4 (aet) Sorry to say that we're out of the FA County Youth Cup, but only after we gave the holders a big scare! The visitors had a two goal lead through to weak headed goals and when they had a penalty midway through the first half, I did think it was curtains for Cornwall. However they missed the goal completely and after regrouping half-time Cornwall were back level minutes after the restart through Ben O'Connor (Wadebridge) and skipper Josh Storey. On 69 minutes George Tucker scored from the penalty spot after a hand-ball and at that moment the Norfolk side were down and out! Unfortunately we couldn't take advantage and worse still we gave away a needless penalty in added on time! They scored and went onto to snatch the winner in the second half of extra time. Hopefully our lads will learn from the match experience and events as although it's disappointing to lose, for the players at this stage it's as much about looking back on the game and learning from there. A quick thank you also to the official attendance of 168 who came along to watch - it wasn't the warmest of mornings! Our next game is now on Saturday 15 December away to Devon in the South & West Counties Championship. No bigger incentive than to do one over our neighbours!
