St Stephen 1 Tregorrick 1

Attendance:18

Saints opted to play with the wind in the first half but were unable to capitalise on their advantage, failing to sufficiently test the visiting keeper. It was a pity, as some of their approach play was decent, but credit must be given to the Tregorrick rearguard for some good defending. Saints did manage to open the scoring mid way through the half with a drive from ten yards, but they were ultimately indebted to their own keeper on a couple of occasions when the Gulls broke away quickly and in numbers.

St Stephen knew they would be up against it after the break, as the ever-increasing wind brought with it the heavy rain which had threatened all game. However, they held firm to restrict the visitors to half chances until finally conceding the equaliser when a left wing cross was brilliantly volleyed home. St Stephen ought to have scored a winner at the death during a goalmouth scramble, but unfortunately were twice unable to get enough power into their shots. While a draw was probably about right, Saints will take heart from another battling performance as they aim to continue their improved form against Bodmin Youth Cougars next weekend.
