Mawnan 2-4 Falmouth Albion (HT 1-3)

A hard fought game, especially in the second half when a few yellow cards were shown.

A good start to the season for Albion against a strong Mawnan side who are always there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

Carharrack 2 Frogpool/Cusgarne 3 h/t 0-0

A tight match well referee-ed by Luke Wilkes was shaded by the visitors due to creating more chances in the second half.

The first half was evenly contested with very few chances.Just glad that the tea hut was open!

The second half had all the excitement with Frogpool playing towards the road.It was Carharrack who took the lead through Liam Bray only for the visitors to hit back quickly following good control in the box.Fred Allen struck the post for the Frogs and Mark Rapsey followed up a shot blocked by the keeper to score with a low shot.Bray equalised coming in from the right with about ten to go only for ace poacher Rappo to appear at the far post and lash in the substitute's cross.

Wendron 3 - Mawgan 6

a hard fought game with wendron opening the scoring after about 20 mins this gave mawgan the wake up call they required and they started to play some football and came in at half time 3-1 up through a matt ruse hat trick. Mawgan started the second half as they finished the 1st and could have had a couple more before mcphilbin added to the tally. Wendron then pulled a goal back before matt ruse grabbed his fourth and mawgans fifth and was substituted seconds later for Paul kilgallon who came on and rounded off the scoring for mawgan. there was still time for wendron to get a penalty which the keeper saved but could only watch as the follow up was scissor kicked into the top corner.

this was a decent game with all the usual handbags and banter that go with Wendron-mawgan games but the ref was always on the spot to snuff out any thing that looked like getting a bit out of hand. The new facilties at wendron are superb and even the fruit machine in the bar was paying out for once so all in all it was a good way to start off the new season :thumbsup:

Well done Mac, first steps towards promotion! We got St Day tonight, can't wait and will hopefully make it two wins in two. Hopefully notch one past "The Cat" myself.

alright mutts lets hope it is the 1st step towards promotion but the league is looking quite strong this year. we will have to wait and see.

st day were quite a strong team last year we managed to get the better of them but they definatly deservered to go up but i believe they have signed some good new players and the manager garry knows his onions (although i believe the new goalie is a bit suspect only joking cat) but i think if helston can keep the ball on the floor they should be ok say hello to shane abrahams for me if he is out there.

100th post for ah reckon so
