MOORLANDERS GOOD RUN CONTINUES

BOVEY TRACEY MANAGER Ryan German and assistant Micky Hunt came away from Bickland Park relieved after a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Falmouth Town in tough pitch conditions.

German went into the game with as many as seven players missing and had to rely on other players changing positions and second team players deputising for those missing.

The Moorlanders kept the ball well in the first 5 minutes, looking to get an early goal. They had that chance as early as the 2nd minute when a free kick was awarded mid way in the Falmouth half which striker Liam Head stepped up to deliver, but another of Bovey's strikers, Jamie Micklewright, could only see his attempt fly over Jason Chapman's goal and on 6 minutes Hayden Roe saw his 35-yard lob go wide.

Falmouth came back with some nice touches and good play themselves, especially from Pat Shaunghessy, who was a handful for the Bovey defence all game with his strong hold up play and quick feet but failed to find the net all game.

The deadlock was broken on 9 minutes when Bovey Tracey were awarded 2 free kick's in a row and in the same area. The second proved the difference as Liam Head's second delivery hit the back post for which defender Ryan Stanbridge was first to connect to.

Bovey started to play more long balls to cause Falmouth problems and the bench were soon unhappy with their players as their concentrations seemed to drop as more and more stoppages were awarded by the referee. Chances in the remainder of the first half were limited to long range efforts, but on 23 minutes the referee issued his first booking of the game; Falmouth's Liam Cope for a handball after challenging for a header. Bovey failed to produce anything from the reward and play continued.

Three minutes later, another Falmouth player was booked; Richard Kellow after the player had already been spoken to twice by MaCleod.

Out for the second half and the game was eagerly anticipated for a fightback from Falmouth or Bovey Tracey returning to Devon with their 4th away win on the spin. The half started similarly as the first, Bovey keeping the ball well for the early period of play and Falmouth relying on Shaunghessy. The referee was soon in his book again on 56 when Bovey's Kai Fisher received his first yellow after a heavy challenge on Richard Kellow. Fisher's game was soon ended after the tall man was sent off after the ball hit his foot when Falmouth were awarded a free kick and looked to have wanted to take it early and strook Fisher's back heel, but the referee felt the defender stook his foot out to stop the ball and he was off.

Bovey changed tactics to deal with Fisher's absence but seemed to cope with the attacking threat of The Ambers as goalkeeper Tom Brooks made the best double save of the game from a couple of Falmouth strikes from 10 yards out. Bovey topped that by adding a second goal 10 minutes from time when Micklewright scored directly from a corner after a slight fumble from Chapman in the Falmouth goal which gave Ryan German 6 wins in 7 going into next weekend's visit of Saltash United to Mill Marsh Park.

Attendance reported was 64. I counted about 77 but guy i spoke to said probably was but only 64 paying customers

My contact quoted 75 as an estimate

Lowest SWPL ever at Bickland 56 v Torpoint 2008-09 season (Falmouth in lowly 19th.position)

Referee Jamie MaCloud from Exeter-his expenses would eat up most of the takings
