Dave Deacon
Why is it, in this day and age, when we are told there is a shortage of referees that I hear today of at least four refs not required for the fixtures this afternoon. Does one assume that all the Div 1 West games had three county officials or what?

Deano11
URGENTLY NEED ONE FOR TOMORROW FALMOUTH ATHLETIC VS HELSTON TITLE MATCH FHFL1 TOMORROW ANY TAKERS
aggiemaid
2 games cancelled in the Falmouth/Helston league today including our St Agnes reserves away v Mawgan both because of no referee available. There seems to be an ongoing problem - is it a lack of referees full stop and do we need to encourage more or is there something else going on that so many games are cancelled? Anita
I don't think there's a shortage they just don't give refs who are qualified and reg fixtures. If i didn't do the line on sat i'd be sat on my arse watching football on tv. :D
B Manning
Anita, I really do think there is a shortage, you say you dont get fixtures well take the bull by the horns so to speak and tell the referee`s secretary that you are available and wish to be appointed to games. Anita
Have done, i kinda got used to being on the line now and when Perranporth don't have a game i've a few people i let know because they are often short of a ref. Find that a lot easier then hoping i might get a game once a month :D
SARIN
Could have been another one cancelled in the FHFL had it not been for the away team to agree to allow the home teams manager to ref the match, something that rightly or wrongly is happening more and more. Apparently the home teams referee had been "poached" by the FA along with another 3 FHFL allocated refs to ref a 5-a-side tournament in Torpoint / Torquay. The reply from the refs appointment officer was that there were NO available refs to cover these games?
Guest Rabinowitz_The_Red
that tornenemnt was in torbay but i never had a booked match that week(week off) and 1 referee dosn't do the FHL anyway (never put his name down) so there were at least 2 who cancelled. But i no what anita is saying i know another referee who put his name down to do games but isn't getting picked. In some cases yeah there is a shortage of referees as if a referee can't do a game there might not be any1 else to take his place. And in some cases they just aint being used.
