Dave Deacon
Not too much goal action to recall, and a goal was probably always going to be something special like the direct free kick Martin Watts rifled in from 30 yards or so to give City the vital breakthrough on 58 minutes. The free-kick coming after Barry McConnell was upended. Les Afful, brought on in place of Danny Clay, clinched the game with an individual effort on 79 minutes after being put through by Barry Hayles. He did well to break through the heart of the Cirencester before hitting past the visiting 'keeper, even if he didn't hit it cleanly. Another three points, even if it wasn't a champions performance. Salisbury won again though - 3-0 against Hemel Hempstead. Attendance : a disappointing (I think) of 303!
