  1. Wouldn't be happy if I was a saltash supporter. What if he got injured? I would say he is being a greedy little ****.
  2. I have to agree with posting, as it is a good summary. As stated, a lovely little ground and a very warm welcome, but after that... Not sure what Sticker feed their players before the match, but I would say it is certainly raw meat! Not a pleasant team to play against at all. I have heard the term "parking the bus", but at Sticker, they park the entire fleet! What sticker lack in skill, they certainly make up for it in "mouth". Living in mid-Cornwall and always looking for a match, I think I will give Sticker a miss from now on.
  3. If the match at saltash has anything to go by, this could be juicy match. Can't see sticker losing here
  4. Sorry HOPPIT, but you are exactly what is wrong with the modern game. Yes, it is true that Gilbert is not the only culprit, but please man up and deal with the bully boys, be it players or managers.
  5. I am totally sure who he was referring to, but within that area.
  6. I overheard Gilbert threatening to go over and smack one of the Tavistock supporters too. I was quite prepared to video the incident if it did occur, so pleased it didn't. So it is ok for Gilbert to be disrespectful to other supporters and match officials Dave. You cannot deny his behaviour at the majority of matches is embarrassing, although i do not expect you to agree with me on this public forum. I do not think the supporters of other clubs are jealous of Bodmin Town as a club, but just the attitude of some of their supporters and their manager.
  7. Yes, it was certainly shorts pulled down, pants pulled down and a very big slap on the ass for Bodmin Town. Oh how the mighty have fallen! Gilby with his usual back-chat to Referee, but have to compliment the Referee for totally ignoring the infantile clap-chat from the Bodmin manager. As for Bowker, best he books in at Slimming world, as he is certainly carrying a few stones more than he should be. As for LEEDSUNITED, he was last seen jumping in the River Tavy.
  8. Torpoint beat them in the Cornwall Senior Cup last season, in the semi-final!!!!!
  9. Will Camelford finish this job tonight and dump Bodmin out of the FA Vase? Surely Reg Hambly can motivate his team to beat a team that is clearly, not what they were.
  10. Neither side can truthfully say they put in a good performance last evening. both sides i gather were missing players and it showed. saltash looked to be missing menhenick, edwards, barker, o'brien and heveran.
  11. What Is so special about falmouth or newquay? In all truth, most of the grounds in the south-west look very tired.
  12. No doubt Darren Gilbert added his usual......
  13. Looking at the present league table for the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League, two once successful clubs are propping up the league with one point a piece, having played thirteen games. Yes one point from thirteen. For the league to operate, there has to be a top and a bottom, but there is currently a gap of thirty six points. How have these to clubs been allowed to become the whipping boys of the league? Is it mismanagement or simply the towns are no longer interested in their respective football clubs? In St Blazeys case, they have a small population(5,000) to call upon, but Newquay has a population of over 22,000, which rises to over 100,000 in the summer! The Premier League has already lost Penzance and Liskeard, are we going to witness St Blazey and Newquay going the same way?
  14. I have to disagree with Mark Russell, losing the likes of Plymouth Parkway to the Western League is detrimental to football in the South West. It is a simple fact that the Western League is made up of clubs mainly based around the Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire area, not the Devon and Cornwall area. Do players and supporters of Plymouth parkway have any interest in moving up through the leagues? I very much doubt it. The present Plymouth Parkway team are lacking real quality and might even struggle for top six
  15. I'm not really so sure our Cornish clubs could sustain playing in a league that involved more travelling than present and hence more expenditure. Many of them haven't got the infrastructure or desire. Take the likes of Saltash yesterday, no match programme because as i was told at the gate "no one to do it"! You may not make loads of money from producing one, but again an income source not being used! There are a number of good people involved at Saltash United, but the leadership could be better.
  16. What about the final league placings? My guess. Bodmin St Austell Ivybridge Parkway Exmouth Godolphin Witheridge Launceston Helston Saltash Callington Torpoint Tavistock Cullompton Newquay Camelford St Blazey Falmouth Stoke Gabriel Elburton
  17. It is very sad to see some clubs declining, but sadly, it all stems from money or lack of it. But surely the clubs have to be more pro-active in getting more people through the gate and inviting more to get involved. It has happened at St Austell, so why cant it work at other clubs?
  18. Recently took a look at the population of the major towns in Cornwall who have local football clubs. Bodmin 15,300 Callington 5,900 Falmouth 22,300 Launceston 12,200 Liskeard 9,500 Newquay 20,300 Penzance 17,900 Saltash 16,600 St Austell 27,400 Torpoint 7,700 Wadebridge 8,000 St Austell have, with their success in recent years, had fantastic crowds. Whilst towns such as Bodmin, Falmouth, Launceston, Newquay, Penzance and Saltash have had very disappointing attendances. Is it a case of lack of interest, people busy doing other things or the clubs failing to get people interested/involved? Some clubs are lucky to get .3% of the population attending games! If clubs want to survive, they must ask themselves, are they doing enough to get people through the gate. As crowds of 40-50 make for no atmosphere and mightmake even more people lose interest.
  19. Will St Austell be the team to beat next season? There is every chance Bodmin will be a lot stronger next season, so they should provide stiff competition for the championship. In all truth, will any other team in the league compete with St Austell and Bodmin next season? Both St Austell and Bodmin have a big budgets to work with and good luck to them both. Could the St Austell ideology be repeated for other clubs within the league? Thoughts?
  20. If a club has worked hard behind the scenes and accumulated a healthy budget, surely its their choice how they spend it. However, if a team are well looked after by a club, money should come secondary.
  21. But if a club has the money and wish to run a successful team, isnt it their perogative to pay the players the going rate?
