After two wins on the bounce Goonhavern looked to make it 3 in 3 against a well drilled St Erme side, St Erme took the lead through a fine goal from the LW who took it down & drilled it into the bottom corner, the lead didn’t last long as 2 mins later Goonhavern were level through a goal of the season contender from former St Erme player Dave “Diddy” Mitchell who hit a sweet volley back over the keeper from a corner. from the resulting KO St Erme went straight down the other end to make it 2-1. Goonhavern soon equalised through young talent Jayden Andrew who hit a deflected shot from a corner. St Erme again though scored shortly after the KO to make it 3-2 The Second half was more cagey with chances galore but Goonhavern took their chances in the second with 3 goals in about 20 mins with Tom Blackwell & Diddy x2 making it 5-3, you would be forgiven for thinking the game was done but with 4mins left St Erme made it 5-4 then with 1min to go made it 5-5. As I wasn’t in the squad for this week I stepped up to Ref the game & I see why we struggle for ref’s down here as every player thinks they can ref a game but credit to St Erme’s Skipper once decisions were explained he was fine with them saying “if all decisions were explained like that then we wouldn’t have arguments” we look to the Junior Cup next week away to Culdrose 2’s
