Camelford 1 v 4 Falmouth Town

You know it could be a hard night when Falmouth have Rob Warne, Tom Annear and Josh Richards as three of their bench.

Fairly even start to the game - Falmouths front players- Marcelo Jones Jordan Annear, Luke Bradyn and Harry Clarke all looked very sharp and their pace caused the Camels back four all sorts of problems (Camels only starting one of their ‘normal’ 4 due to injuries). Falmouth played some very nice football - however Falmouths first chance of the game came from a penalty decision (very strange one as the player chested ball whilst uncontested and given as a handball?). Penalty missed by Jordan.  First open play chance fell to Camels shortly afterward where Barnes pulled off a great foot save from a Ryan Pooley shot.

All square on 30 minuted - then a lovely run by Clarke who played a through ball to J Annear who neatly slotted home. Big shouts that both Jordan and Marcelo were offside but linesman’s decision is final. Second goal followed shortly afterwards with a speculative shot from 20 yds which Luke had covered but unfortunately spilled allowing a simple tap in (I think by Marcelo) and a third from Falmouth’s Jordan Annear before half time closed the game off. On play Falmouth played far better than the Camels in the first half - but on actual scoring chances 3-0 was slightly unfair.

Second half saw Camels wake up and slight changes in formation by both teams saw Camels in the ascendency. Following 2/3 missed sitters by Camels a long ball clearance by Falmouth unfortunately saw the Camels keeper delay clearing and when he did hitting Jordan and the ball falling perfectly for the Falmouth striker to complete his hat trick - from Twitter this may have been Rob Warne and Jordan didn’t get his hat trick!!

Camels never gave up and were rewarded with a Josh Insley header and again missing several good chances to make the score more reflective of the game.

Falmouth have a very decent squad, now and will do very well come the end of the season.

I thought the officials had very good games (I definitely didn’t agree with all their calls - but they called what they saw and tried to show decent game management). Only negative was the Falmouth Ass Manager / Physio who was far too vocal on the touch line, when not needed and making ridiculous shouts, letting himself down and a good Town performance.

Good luck to Luke, Jack Webber and Archie Frier (and the other Falmouth lads who were not there tonight) for Saturday in the County Youth - do yourselves and the County proud.
