Clyts Rovers v St Blazey

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow sees the Blazey faithful travel to Clyst Honiton, just the other side of Exeter, to take on former Western league side becoming affectionately known as "the Clyts" by St Blazey fans. Very immature, I know.

St Blazey will be looking to put together back-to-back wins for the first time since December, following their recent hammering of high flyers Plymouth Parkway. This was St Blazey's best performance of the season and arguably one of the best performances of any side in SWPL Premier this season.

Current table:

2 Buckland Athletic 27 17 5 5 62 31 31 56

19 Elburton Villa 23 2 4 17 27 64 -37 10

A few weeks ago we thought we had nothing to play for, but with the FA shaking up the FA Cup qualification, we now need to finish in the top 10 to give ourselves a chance.

We will be eager for the three points tomorrow to get back on the right side of Cullompton, but as they still have four games in hand, we will need them to slip up too.

Recent form:

St Blazey: LDWDW

Clyst Rovers: LLLLL

Clyst Rovers 1-3 St Blazey

Attendance: 50 (15 from St Blazey)

St Blazey made it 3 wins from 4 with this hard-faught victory over the border.

St Blazey dominated in the first half and took an early lead. We could have had quite a few but for some well-organised defending and poor finishing. Clyst got it back to 1-1 early in the second half and the game became very scrappy, not helped by some over-zealous officiating.

It was starting to look like another frustrating day at the office, but St Blazey turned on the style ten minutes from time to run out deserved winners.

Back-to-back wins and we will go into Wednesday's game against Wadebridge confident we can get another positive result. :c:

What a place to go!!! A clubhouse that hasnt changed in over 30 years and didnt it show!! It looked like a collectors piece and every chair in it looks like it came out of my great, great great Grandmas home!!!

Add to that a stand that could fall any minute, some dodgy metal around the pitch and.....oh, some aeroplanes parked behind the top goal!!!

The crowd was just woeful. Quite a few Blazey fans had other things on but we still manged to take 15 for the 170 mile round trip in glorious weather.

Well done St Blazey on another good win. The team want to do well and thats good to see. 10th place is a real possibility with this form.

Roll on wednesday.

P.S....anyone going to Clyst for the groundhop????

With Cullumpton loosing again St Blazey are now 3 points clear of them altough they have 4 games in hand. They do have tricky fixtures to come. St Blazey are also only 4 points off Lanson and 6 off Torpoint so with current form and Launceston and Torpoint having lost managers in recent weeks, theres always a chance of keeping ourselves in the top 10!! F.A cup here we come!!!! :yahoo:

Nothing wrong with the Clyst pitch. Nicely cut in fact. Not exactly flat but itll do me. Dont start all the St Stephens rubbish again. Thats just a small plastic pitch with a fence and little else. Thats is not a football club. Its simply a team playing on a pitch anyone can use. Clyst may not be great but i look forward to my return next season. :drink:
