Fitness Training

One of my mates has taken the step up from Combo to SWPL. I asked him what he felt the main difference was in the training. He said there was a greater focus on fitness.

In my team at work we have a points system based on the Military fitness test which covers cardio, strength, speed and stamina to determine current fitness levels.

-A mile and a half run best effort on flat ground (10:30mins Basic Pass)

-Maximum effort press ups (2 Minutes)

-Maximum effort sit ups (2 Minutes)

-Stamina Test – 8 Miles maximum effort 20 kg on back over various terrains.

Just for interest

-Sprint – 100m Best Effort

For all you coaches out there how do you measure you individual player's fitness?

The Army recommends once a month Deano.

But the above tests can give you an indication of what you can expect on Weds!

Lucky you I have invested in '101 Fitness Tests' book. Ha Ha Ha.

Ive even got the sit up version of the bleep test. Yippee!
