Wendron Hayle Trispen Lizard Helston Mullion Falmouth Athletic St Day Penryn Ruan Minor Carharrack Rosudgeon Cury Stithians Frogpool/Cusgarne Constantine League affiliation fees are staying the same this year - £25. Refs match fees are staying the same BUT refs travelling expenses are going UP 10 pence to 35 pence per mile. ***Rule Change*** It was proposed and accepted that there will be penalties after extra time in all rounds of cups right from the first round to the final thus getting rid of the need for replays. Richard Chown Posted June 25, 2008 Report Share Posted June 25, 2008 The Packet © -Link FHFL AGM By Leon Prynn AFTER a lapse of a few seasons without a team, Constantine Reserves were admitted back into the Whirlwind Sports Falmouth-Helston League at the annual general meeting held at Helston AFC on Thursday evening. With Falmouth Town IV and Tremough having withdrawn their applications before the meeting, just one place was up for grabs between the three teams applying for re-election along with new applicants Constantine Res, Perranporth III, and Cornwall College. Cury, Stithians Res and Frogpool/Cusgarne Res were all re-elected and Constantine got the nod over the other two. The league president, Mr Bruce Taylor, confirmed the promotions and relegations, which were as expected. Relegated from division one: Lizard Argyle, Hayle III and Wendron III. Promoted from division two: Pendeen, Truro City III and Perranwell Res. Relegated from division two to division three: Wendron IV, Hayle IV and Trispen. Promoted from division three: Porthleven Rangers, Camborne Park, Lanner and Troon Res. In a meeting that covered the business in very good time, finishing at around 9 o'clock, the only item to be discussed was the proposed rule change of no cup replays and extra time and penaties to take effect in all rounds to decide the outcome, if necessary. The meeting supported the change. Before the meeting got under way, a minute's silence was held in memory of those who had died during the year including Anthony Tonkin of Mousehole FC, Dickie Robertson of Mawnan FC, Constantine FC and Falmouth Town FC, and Roy Lobb of Chacewater. In his report, league secretary Mr Gerald Sobey said that the season went well until the New Year and then the bad weather set in which caused a fixture pile up. "The end of season saw the usual catching up of games with the most successful teams having the most games to play," he said. He also commented on the semi-finals and finals in terms of support and said that this season was probably the best of them all. He added: "Many thanks to all the clubs that put their grounds at our disposal for these games as we are very lucky to have such fine facilities in this league. However, I was shocked to learn that on two occasions players abused these facilities and had no respect for the changing rooms that they had used."" Touching on the possible merger with the One and All sports Mining League, he said everything appeared to be moving smoothly. He extended his thanks to referee appointments officer Alan Wallace and David Sobey who, he said, did a tremendous job with the registrations. He reminded clubs that anyone seeking promotion to the Jolly's Combination League must finish in the first three places in division one and that in the first instance the application for promotion should be addressed to the Falmouth-Helston League by early January 2009 and not the Jolly's Combination League. He also added that the league would like to celebrate its 50th anniversary and sought suggestions from the clubs on what form it should take. In her report, treasurer Ruth Roberts, presenting her 15th balance sheet for the league, said it had been another good season and recommended no increase in fees, a recommendation that, not surprisingly, clubs were eager to support. Registration secretary David Sobey said that 1,963 players were registered with the league, an increase of 23. There were 98 transfers, an increase of five, nine cases of players signing for two clubs (a decrease of seven), and 17 unregistered players, an increase of one. Top goalscorers were - Div I: Mike Elliott (Chacewater), 56; Alan Thomas (St Keverne), 43; Tony Morley (Helston), 32; Luke Kelland (Chacewater), 29; Mark Mitchell (Holmans), 25. Div. II: Dean Jameson (Perranwell), 38; Dominic Clemen (Pendeen), 27; Alec Penrose (Truro City III), 26; Christian Lett (Truro City III), 26; Steve Hughes (Mawgan United), 26. Div. III: Stuart Hull (Camborne Park), 54; Mike Catterill (Troon Res), 45; Peter Norfolk (Camborne Park), 40; Mike Cudlipp (Falmouth Ath Res), 37; Richard Chambers (Porthleven Rangers), 36. The league's top-marked referee was Chris Dengler with 8.9. The sporting trophy winners were - Div I: 1, St Day, 4.50; 2, Wendron, 4.46; 3, Holmans, 4.44. Div. II: 1, Rosudgeon/Kenneggy, 5.00; 2, Trispen, 4.85; 3, Perranporth, 4.80. Div. III: 1, Lanner, 4.87; 2, Cury, 4.66; 3, Mullion, 4.63. Linespersons award (only four qualify): 1, Morley Burley (Lanner), 9.20; 2, Gary Howell (Perranwell), 9.09; 3, Ian Sedgeman (Marazion), 8.76; 4, Barry Pitman (Mawnan), 8.60. All the league's officers and management committee were re-elected with the only change being Trevor Lawence replacing Ben Lugg as the referees' representative. John Roberts was elected as acting vice-chairman in Stephen Gilbert's absence. The season will begin on Saturday, August 16, and conclude on May 31, 2009. Fatso Posted June 26, 2008 Report Share Posted June 26, 2008 I mean no offence to Constantine Res or the club as a whole (congratulations to them!) when I say that it seems a little strange to me that the Falmouth-Helston league would rather have a reserve side in place than allow a new club into the league. I know personally that the Cornwall College outfit would have been run very professionally and within the coming year would have the best playing facilities in the league. I also think that, after seeing some of the players willing to sign for them (see facebook group) they would have done extremely well and gained promotion at least. However, I understand that the committee makes an impartial choice, so well done to Constantine who must have made a good presentation. I am a Storm player so if they do get into the Mining League instead I wish Cornwall College the best of luck, but hope that our 2nd team beats them down! Can only speak for the way that the Falmouth Helston League deal with new applications and re-applications(bottom three teams in Division Three),i usually get someone easle to attend the other AGM but the Mining League will probably be along the same lines.
