Soccer Follower
Following a long period of mediocrity (on a good day) on the pitch for Truro City and a return to the club's roots on the cards, who is the favourite for the club's new owners to replace the current incumbent Paul Wotton for the new 2024-2025 season? Are they looking to bring in a statement signing from outside the County to overall the playing squad or stick local-ish? These new owners will want a return for their investment and they are not going to get that from the current squad and background staff who have failed too often. Homeless for 3 seasons and 3 "home" grounds this season alone, if Paul Wotton keeps Truro in NLS then he should get handed every manager of the year award going for this year. Assuming they are back home next season though, the expectation levels will be beyond mere survival (the owners will need this to keep the locals turning up). Will be interesting to see if the strategy changes with regards to playing style and personnel, and what budget the manager is given to spend. Given how other sides in this division have much larger numbers involved with coaching and the backroom staff, would say that this an area that definitely needs refreshing and strengthening for City. On the original point though, Wotton has been around football long enough to know that it's a results business, regardless of having a multi year contract. You would expect a step 2 side to always have names in mind should they see the need to make a change (which there absolutely isn't at the moment). Both Sides of the Tamar
Absolutely no good reason to replace Paul Wotton. City are staying up despite a season from hell. Happy with Wotton as manager.
