Welling 3 Truro 2

Recommended Posts

Despite what some will say, this definitely felt like a relegation 6 pointer and even had a bit of cup tie feel about it. City were the better side in the first half, and should have gone into the interval further ahead with more than Danny Sullivan's goal to shoe for their efforts. Welling started the 2nd half showing why they're one of the divisions in form sides when the scored twice to take the lead, only for Truro to show great resilience to draw level again through Tyler Harvey.  The SE Londoners then scored late on with an absolute zinger of a shot to take the 3 points, and lift themselves out of the bottom 4. Lot to like about this Truro side, and they certainly weren't well beaten here tonight, but "unlucky and deserved something from the game " doesn't keep you in this tough and unforgiving division. They really need to find a scrappy win from somewhere to chamber out of this potentially calamitous slump, getting something from the, what has the look of, another relegation 6 pointer on Saturday vs new landlords, Taunton, would be much appreciated, but who would bet on the game getting played?

No Win in 7 is that for Truro ? Another pitch to get use to  ( if they ever play on it )  to try and see out home games.
You have to worry if they are going down .
Dan Sullivan never seems to last 90mins Tyler Harvey can’t keep digging them out and there always seems to be loan players coming in that never play.
is wotten running out of ideas ? Also yetton signing a new deal as his Assistant ,is he tactically really any good or just Paul wotten yes man  . I often believe a really good assistant is crucial in that level to bounce different ideas off  .

Lost 6 and drawn 1 of their last 7.

It does start to feel like City are sliding towards the drop. Can only imagine what it's like in the dressing room at the moment, narrowly losing away games and trying to prepare for "home" games that nobody expects will get played. Really tough times for everybody involved.

On a separate note, know that ground grading is a live topic elsewhere on the forum, I would think though that the FA's clipboard wavers were wary of visiting this slightly ramshackle ground in a less salubrious part of SE London. There are plans in place to renovate it and install a new artificial pitch, but something will be lost from the experience of visiting this club.

Just can't keep clean sheets. They need someone like a Marcus Martin in the middle who just used to break up play. Right full/wing back needs revisiting and ideally would like to see two wide players added - theres a lot to like about Truro but some important cogs missing.

It'll be us or Taunton that head down.

City aren't getting outplayed in any of the matches I have seen them in, it is (as with last night) not taking chances and odd goal defeats. It was an unstoppable strike to win it for Welling, but Truro should have been clear by half time. 1 side is out of form and not knowing where the next win is coming from, the other is on a hot streak (after having changed their manager I should add) and always believed they would win.

Havant and Dover looking doomed at the bottom, but then looking like 2 from Dartford,Welling,Truro,Taunton and Eastbourne (who knows with Torquay??) being in danger of joining them.
